I'd just like to see Columbus finally make the playoffs. Wouldn't even care if they didn't win a single game once they got there, but just making it there would be huge for them. No, you're definitely not. I want to see the Ducks feel the same kind of slump too. I think Malkin suffers partially from the "He's not Canadian" NHL media machine bias that Ovechkin suffers from as well. Honestly, I think that if the situations were reversed - Ovechkin and Malkin were Canadian (ignore their Russian names ) and Crosby was Russian - both Ovechkin and Malkin would be in the spotlight a hell of a lot more. That's not to say they're not in the spotlight now, because they are, but they're overshadowed significantly by Crosby. Just due to the origins and nature of the league, Canadian players will always seem to get the green light before the Europeans.

I'll concur that his play wasn't up to par before recently. And like you said, same with the rest of the team. Raffi's been playing much, much better lately. Nice avatar, BTW.

Well, time for the post-holiday report. While I did overindulge at some points over the holidays, I came out the other side okay. Since I was on holiday break from work for two weeks, I also didn't end up getting up early most days to do my exercise routine, so the most exercise I got was really shoveling snow and moving boxes upon boxes into the house. So, for a small snapshot: December 15: 171.5 lbs January 5: 166.75 lbs It's a far cry from the 229 lbs I started at, that's for sure.

Oddly enough, I think ratings were pretty high in Pittsburgh this year too.
