This is likely to get me crucified, but... Overrated: Brodeur It's funny how the talent of Red Wings goaltenders over the years has always been downplayed due to their playing behind a stellar defensive corps. So why hasn't that happened to Brodeur? He played behind one of the most stifling defensive-minded teams in recent history, but everyone and their mother credits HIM with their success. Now that the Devils have been on the downswing defensively (without a subsequent increase in their offensive game), Brodeur is much more likely to have a bad game in which he actually gets pulled - something that was absolutely unheard of a few seasons ago. Age could play a factor in this (particularly last season), but overall, I believe the failure of the Devils' defensive mindset the past couple years has exposed Marty for what he is - overrated. Let the flames fly.

Just weighed myself today and I've finally knocked myself down to 220 - before this, I was constantly hovering between 225 and 235 for at least the past couple of years, usually at the higher end of things (with 245 being my worst). A combination of Wii Fit and Daily Plate are working some magic for me!

Welcome aboard. As referenced earlier in the thread, TheDailyPlate.com is a fantastic resource for tracking your calorie intake. I started using it about a week and a half ago and, in tandem with regular 5-10 minute daily bouts of aerobics on WiiFit, I've already lost 6 lbs (and yes, I know I'm going to hit a plateau eventually, but I'm hoping that doesn't discourage me). The great thing about it is that you don't necessarily have to stop eating good food - you just end up more aware of what you're eating, the calories of each item and so on. It's stopped me from snacking and it's kept me away from the higher calorie stuff like most fast food (a Wendy's spicy chicken meal is something like 1,200 calories, practically 75% of my daily recommended calorie intake of around 1,700 calories (I have my goal on Daily Plate set to losing 2 lbs a week, so your daily recommended intake will vary based on your individual weight and goals).

Okay, I don't give a crap if the average Blackhawks fan decides to chant "DETROIT SUCKS!". It's what they do. The reason I thought this was classless and juvenile was because this was an ELECTED OFFICIAL incorporating this into a GOVERNMENT DOCUMENT. If this guy was decked out in Blackhawks gear and just started a chant during a press conference or something, fine. But it just comes across to me as infantile to use government paperwork to say it. I'd think it was just as infantile if Granholm, Kwame, etc. wasted government resources doing it against Chicago. Oh well, I realize I'm in the minority on this one. *shrug*

Exactly what I was going for here. It's not that he's supporting the Hawks and trying to get the fanbase all riled up. I have no problem with that. It's the completely juvenile statement and the total lack of creativity. It's the difference between me saying "DEVILS SUCK!!!" and "I don't think the Devils will do particularly well this year due to their lack of offense, in addition to their loss of defensive prowess over the years, despite them being a defensively-minded team." One makes me look like I'm on the playground. The other makes me look like I actually received some sort of education past 8th grade.

Methinks I'm getting predictable.
