I believe they finished the season 26th in goals scored. That's pretty piss poor, when you consider that the teams beneath them were Anaheim/St. Louis (tied), Columbus and the Islanders. Their defense was 4th in the league. So, I think the claim of NJ being defense skilled with no offense still holds true, at least going by last season. Honestly, I doubt this season's roster will be a whole lot different, even with the couple of changes they've made.

If he lives where I think he does, he might damn well be a mere 12 minutes away from me without me realizing it. Of course, I'd never stalk him, that ain't right. Still neat to be THAT close to my fave player.

Me and wifey in NYC yesterday before the Joel McHale show at Caroline's.

Wonder if this has to do with not shoring up the defensive corps at all. http://tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=243131&lid...os=secStory_nhl

Break him off a piece of that Fancy Feast.

Plus, Bert couldn't buy into the whole goon mentality of the Ducks team, lest it look like a step backward toward the Moore incident. He's at least a better off with Calgary (unless Iginla starts gooning it up).

So by that logic, John Stevens is a "great" coach too...minus the whole "discipline" thing.

http://tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=243086&lid...os=secStory_nhl Wonder what Bettman will say about this. Wait, what am I thinking? It's Brian Burke. Nevermind. And why is Burke crying, "TAMPERING! TAMPERING!"? Because Lowe said this: Because of that... Seriously, you can't make this s*** up.
-
I'd love to somehow blame this on Bettman, but I'm not sure if I can. Sucks for Nashville, though.
-
Well, at least you're catching on to that whole real world/online distinction now.

Hey, me am good smrt too! Yeah, as sports fans, reason does tend to kind of fly out the window. Hell, I had a discussion with my wife the other day after watching 'The Two Coreys' how after mercilessly bashing a player online, I feel guilty afterward because god forbid he reads the comments (in that episode of TTC, Corey Haim reads some not so flattering comments about himself on a paparazzi website and becomes upset). We let our emotions get the best of us and forget that these players are people just like us. *shrug*

Good find. Hossa chose his words VERY carefully there. He never once said that he would take less money to stay in Pittsburgh specifically, but that, within reason, he would take less money to sign with a "great team". As I mentioned in my previous post, he probably say Shero selling off/trading away integral cogs of the '08 Cup run and realized, "Hmm, this may not be a 'great' team next season..."
-
That's actually a good point. Once Hossa saw Shero trading away all the supporting cast, he had to be thinking twice about the quality of the product Pittsburgh would be putting on the ice next season. You don't sell off/trade away a good chunk of your team (and its chemistry) to land a superstar, because no matter how good that one individual is, he can't do it all.

Sweet. I'll get to find out when I'm going to see my first game at The Rock.

Jeff Finger. Duh.

You like pink, don't you? You'd get along smashingly with my wife.

Should be interesting to see Sergei with the Caps for a full season. I'd like to see what he can do out there.
-
Great, now he's gonna join the Russian Mafia.
-
Actually, with there being no CBA extension in place (yet) for next season, isn't this one of those situations where potential performance bonuses have to count against this season's cap?

I didn't even know what HSM was until late last year. I ain't looking forward to any of that stuff...

What I'm really curious about is the underhanded dealings that Lowe alluded to regarding Burke obtaining Niedermayer.
-
THAT'S what irks me most about this. You can be pro-Burke or anti-Burke...but how do you explain Bettman's timing on intervening in this feud? Is it because Lowe disparaged not only Burke but the market of Anaheim (and honestly, what Lowe said of Anaheim as a hockey market isn't untrue)? Perhaps. But is that any worse than Burke blaming Lowe for the woes of the entire league? Doubtful. All said, Bettman's timing is curious as best and blatantly biased at worst.

Well, it's true! Any idiot can write a blog.
