Burke Blames Lowe For Higher Salaries

Yeah, it's strange...Burke really seems to do an inordinate amount of bitching about other teams and not enough concentrating on his own. Okay, yeah, we do a fair amount of bitching about Burke too, but we're not NHL GMs now, are we? In addition to him constantly railing on Lowe, remember during our round against Dallas how he started pissing and moaning about Holmstrom and suddenly, Holmstrom started getting called for goaltender interference any time he dared to breathe on Turco? He started complaining about a series in which he had no vested interest! Except, perhaps, that he didn't want the Stars to get swept by us, because that would make his Ducks look even worse - "Haw haw! The team that eliminated the Ducks got swept out of the Conference Finals! The Ducks must be REALLY horrible!" As for Lowe starting the ridiculous overpaying...maybe with the two offer sheets. That's IT, though. It didn't affect the whole league. During this whole free agent frenzy, I've seen ONE offer sheet and it was matched. You want to see overpaid? Look at that failed Bertuzzi experiment. Look at Finger. And, what a coincidence - a team that Burke is currently linked to and a team that Burke will likely be connected to in the future. Burke is, simply put, an attention *****. He just HAS to get his face in the media every week or so and unfortunately, TSN or XM Home Ice always seem more than happy to oblige. Is he a skilled GM? Sure, although there are clearly GMs in the league that are better than him. But that doesn't change the fact that he's a whiny rat bastard. He was a whiny rat bastard in Vancouver and he's the same in Anaheim.

    Wow, Pittsburghers are really ticked

    Stay classy, Pittsburgh.

Burke Blames Lowe For Higher Salaries

This was all I got from that article... Burke: "WAAAAAAH!! LOWE TOOK ONE OF MY BEST PLAYERS!!! WAAAAAAAAAAAH! THAT'S NOT FAIR!!! ALL THE LEAGUE'S PROBLEMS ARE HIS FAULT!!! WAAAAAAAAH!!!" What a ******* crybaby. He's just embarassing himself now. And he's one to talk about things that are "gutless". I just don't get where all the love for this man comes from. He nearly whines as much as Michel Therrien. Okay, okay, NOBODY whines as much as Michel Therrien, but you get my point.

    Marian Hossa a Red Wing, 1yr, $7.45m

Just read Dreger's article at TSN whining about how the Hossa signing was a "slap in the face" to the Pens. He's complaining that the Pens could have matched the 1-year offer but never got the chance. What he conveniently omits from his article was that it was Hossa and Winter that proposed the 1-year deal to Detroit. They didn't propose it to Pittsburgh - if Hossa had truly WANTED to, he would have. He wants to play for the Wings. He just didn't want to hurt L'il Sidney's feelings by telling him the truth.

    Jeff Finger

You know...given Toronto's penchant for ineptitude in recent years, it really wouldn't surprise me if they truly thought they were getting Sauer and signed Finger instead. Seriously. Now watch Finger have a breakout year or something and challenge for the Norris.
  6. And another player bails from the sinking ship that is the Pittsburgh Penguins. I can just picture Crosby having a temper tantrum right about now. "But Mario, EVERYONE should want to play with me!!! Why are they all leaving? WHY WHY WHY?!"

    Marian Hossa a Red Wing, 1yr, $7.45m

Hossa is lazy and he sucks! ...too soon?

    Marian Hossa a Red Wing, 1yr, $7.45m

*looks at profile* I suppose. A little creepy, but okay nonetheless.

    Marian Hossa a Red Wing, 1yr, $7.45m

Yeah, I was thinking that too. This really isn't fair to the rest of the league. And they can't even pull that whole "Yankees of the NHL" crap, because everyone's got the same salary cap limitations. We just have the best GM in the league (not to mention a classy organization) on our side.

    Marian Hossa a Red Wing, 1yr, $7.45m

And don't forget that they essentially gave up Colby Armstrong, Erik Christensen, Angelo Esposito and a first round draft pick for another player who is now on our roster. Schadenfreude, anyone?

    Marian Hossa a Red Wing, 1yr, $7.45m

Anybody think this means that Pittsburgh will panic and drastically overpay for Sundin?

    Marian Hossa a Red Wing, 1yr, $7.45m

I actually saw it at TSN before I saw it here. This was how it went down. "Lessee...aw crap, that's Hossa, means someone's signed him. Wonder who got...WHAT THE f***?! OH MY GOD!!!" *falls out of chair*

So this is what it feels like to poach players from the team you beat in the playoffs...

Holy s***. I just fell out of my chair here at work after yelling about it. Wow.

Sean Avery down to 2 teams - CGY & DAL

It'll be fitting if he goes to Calgary. Dallas has too much class for him. Meanwhile, he'll probably be best pals with Igoonla.

6.10 wip in philly reports Flyers talking with Shanahan

I really hope Shanny doesn't join the Flyers. Much too classy for that classless organization. I'd gladly welcome him back here as a depth signing like Cheli.
  18. Per TSN's UFA Signings Tracker. Guess the Panthers didn't want the Bolts to have all the forward-signing fun.

    Ottawa signs Auld

We knew they'd need to make some goaltender signing. Not too surprised by this one.

    Jagr courted by Pittsburgh Penguins

I'll admit that Jagr's still got something left in the tank, but I have a feeling he's going to be looking for a bit too much cash.

    Jagr courted by Pittsburgh Penguins

That's funny as hell. Guess they haven't been watching him play since he left Pittsburgh.

Tampa Bay signs UFA goaltender Olaf Kolzig

But what about OLAF Kolzig?! Where will he play now?! (I keeeeed, I keeeeed...)

Not a bad signing for the Avs.
