Yeah, but he also said that he was giving Nieds and Selanne until draft day to decide their future. And then he said, "Wait, I just meant Niedermayer. Selanne can have all the time he needs." And then he said, "Well, the Ducks didn't really set a deadline for Niedermayer. It's really July 1st." After July 1st, it'll probably be, "Well, Scott's earned all the time he needs to decide..." So, Duck Guy, you'll have to forgive me if Burke's words don't hold much weight with me.

Oh darn. What a shame. Hey, at least they'll be able to keep Malkin now.
-
With Bryz in net for the whole year and Jokinen leading the offense, I think Phoenix could surprise a lot of people this coming season.
-
Wow, the Leafs could be completely destroyed even BEFORE Burke gets there...
-
I know I read it during the playoffs and I'm trying to Google it right now. Of course, if this turns out to be something I read in an internet version of the telephone game, I'll own up to it. EDIT: No luck Googling it...I'm starting to wonder if I heard it on XM Home Ice, which is entirely possible. I'm absolutely positive I didn't just make this up tho. I guess we'll find out what's what depending on Malkin's decision.

This reminds me of when he complained during the playoffs, after watching the Russians playing in the World Championships, that he'd rather be playing for THAT championship than the Stanley Cup. I seriously think he's more at home with his own countrymen than in the NHL if he's going to make comments like that.

Wow...Bettman's a petty, petty little man. "Question MY league?! Well, I'll show you... I'm going to take on an original six franchise!" Idiot.
-
What's amazing is that in addition to backtracking on Selanne's deadline, Burke clearly said yesterday on XM that Niedermayer's deadline to decide - IMPOSED BY THE DUCKS - was draft day. It's truly gotten to the point where we can't believe a word this man says anymore. I'm willing to bet that Niedermayer hasn't made a decision by training camp. Any takers?
-
And now, of course, Burkie has backed off on his deadline for Niedermayer. Predictable. http://tsn.ca/columnists/darren_dreger/?id...os=secStory_nhl

I actually can't take credit for that one...but it was definitely someone else on the board.
-
I thought so too, but Burke was on XM yesterday and backpedaled on Selanne's deadline. (paraphrasing) "Well, Teemu's a free agent, so we can't really give him a deadline and he'll get whatever time he needs to decide." Nice, Burkie.

Heh heh, now that you mention it, I do spend a bit too much time in this room... Crap, I'm still in here.

You look all princessy and stuff. And that's a compliment! I wish I had a foam finger. I've never owned one. Although a former co-worker of mine had a foam finger of "The Shocker" at his desk. I had Premiere rendering in the background of that pic, I swear! My eyes are so weird...used to be so bright blue and now they're like an odd blue-grey with green and hazel specs in them.

While working on video stuff...

Marty Brodeur as a prime example. His pads are tiny compared to guys like Giguere.

*blink* A little off-topic, but noticing that second clip...I had no idea Drew left the D&M morning show. Wow. Read up on it a little bit, though, and can't blame him one bit. Hope his wife's doing okay.

Well, according to Al Strachan back at the beginning of the month...
-
On XM today, I heard that next year's induction class should be a big one - Yzerman, Hull, Robitaille... Gilmour's gotta be picked, though, just by his stats alone.
-
I love how Wayne's all endorsing them as being the future of hockey... ...but it's because he has a financial interest in them.
-
What's even more funny is that all signs point to Burke repeating what he did with Vancouver - inheriting a team that was on its way up, running it right into the ground and then leaving (for Toronto this time). The only difference this time was that he inherited a team that ended up winning a Stanley Cup due to a combination of skill and his special blend of goonery.
-
Articles like this make me wonder how many people Burke must have incriminating photos of. Seriously, it's the only logical reason I can think of for so much Burke love.
-
True, true. Hell, if he holds onto Malkin until the trade deadline, Shero could get some crazy return. In any case, it'll be interesting to see what happens.
-
Yeah, but if they sign Hossa and then want to trade Malkin, other GMs will have Shero over a barrel, knowing that he HAS to get rid of Malkin, cap-wise. It's the Brian Burke position of negotiation. Not saying that Malkin would go cheap, but they certainly wouldn't be getting as much in return as they might have if Hossa wasn't in the mix.
-
And keep this in mind too, people - Hossa hasn't accepted this extension. Could be too much of a discount for him, considering he could EASILY get more on the open market. We know who Hossa's agent is?
