You'd expect this to be an article ragging on the Wings, right? Nope. It's about the "fanbase" of the defending champs. Marcia Smith: Where's the passion for the Ducks? One part of this article seems especially appropriate to quote on here:

Here's some food for thought. 2007-2008 Regular Season Home Records Dallas: 23-16-2 (.561) Anaheim: 28-9-4 (.683) 2007-2008 Regular Season Road Records Dallas: 22-14-5 (.537) Anaheim: 19-18-4 (.463)

Pierre Maguire is a loathsome human being
edicius replied to Probert 5 For Fighting's topic in General
Okay, I hate him just as much as the rest of you, but this is bugging the piss out of me. It's "McGuire", not "Maguire". Carry on. -
Nice find, Matt. I'd say that's damn near conclusive. Trotz doesn't have a leg to stand on. Or a neck.
-
Hmm, nice score to wake up to. GO STARS!
-
Agreed, that's what I noticed too. Imagine if the puck had been going high, but with the net raised a few inches, it suddenly clinks off the bar then goes in. That's why the rule's there.

Oh dear, I believe I've started something... (I'll take The Penis Mightier for $200, Trebek...)

Ah, a goal by the lazy twins. Nice.

I love you, Dallas Stars.

Eh? What are they doing?

New Jersey. At least Boston lost games 1 and 2 on the road. They can still use home ice to their advantage in the next two. New Jersey lost their first two in their own house and are now off to NY (to lose games 3 and 4, presumably).

The B's really need to get their asses in gear if they want to stay in this series.

I mentioned this in another thread, but it bears repeating. Trotz said (of Holmstrom), "When I really watched it in review, his feet were in the blue," Predators coach Barry Trotz said. "According to the rules, you can't be in the blue." Trotz really needs to brush up on his NHL rules... From the current NHL rulebook: 69.1 Interference on the Goalkeeper - This rule is based on the premise that an attacking player’s position, whether inside or outside the crease, should not, by itself, determine whether a goal should be allowed or disallowed. In other words, goals scored while attacking players are standing in the crease may, in appropriate circumstances be allowed. It ain't illegal to be in the blue anymore, Barry. Hasn't been for almost a decade. Not since the infamous Hull goal.

Here's what really gets me: Trotz really needs to re-read his NHL rulebook: 69.1 Interference on the Goalkeeper - This rule is based on the premise that an attacking player’s position, whether inside or outside the crease, should not, by itself, determine whether a goal should be allowed or disallowed. In other words, goals scored while attacking players are standing in the crease may, in appropriate circumstances be allowed. Trotz is quoting a rule that hasn't been in effect for nearly a decade. This may explain a few things about his interpretation of the rules.

I would just love to see Anaheim heading into Dallas down 0-2. That is all.

I dunno, all I heard from McGuire's mouth was, "Tootoo Tootoo Tootoo. Tootoo Tootoo, Tootoo? Tootoo, Tootoo Tootoo!"
-
Color me shocked. Seriously. Wow. You think you know a guy... EDIT: At least with his DetroitIan alias. The other ones, I wasn't familiar with.
-
TSN's buying into it too. Hmm. Even if he did have a skate in the crease, that's not grounds to call off a goal anymore. What is this, 1999? Sheesh. If he wasn't interfering with Ellis (just annoying him), there's no calling off the goal. They're actually calling it RIGHT for a change when it comes to Homer. TSN even had the idiocy to caption one of their photos "Arena worker takes the octopus off the ice." That's Al Sobotka, you morons. Show some respect.

He...is? How the hell is that possible? I woulda figured Zata for a more likely candidate.
-
My playoff beard is still lame.
-
Well, my Zata jersey lives to see another playoff game. When wearing it all day for both Games 1 and 2, I'm 2-0.

Don't you DARE jinx us!

Dom looks happy. I like seeing that.
