Go Drake!

Yay. Van Massenhoven. Not quite as bad as O'Halloran, but still...
-
Hmm, I wake up and there's no news yet. I don't know if that's good or bad.
-
The fact that he's the captain of the Ducks and therefore a leader/role model should also factor into the length of the suspension. He doesn't deserve to wear the 'C' with such conduct unbecoming of an alleged leader. If he's not suspended into at least a round of the playoffs, all the league is doing is giving him a rest before the postseason. Make the suspension count and suspend him for a round or two of the playoffs. 23 game suspension = the Ducks' remaining 9 regular season games and two playoff rounds at seven games apiece. THAT'S fair.

Well, somebody from Anaheim (and TSN) was on the air on NHL Home Ice this afternoon and said he was talking to Pronger today. He said Pronger didn't get what the big deal over everything was. Apparently "someone" texted Pronger last night and told him (regarding the "stomp"), and I quote, "It's a dead issue." I seriously think something's up here. And it smells rotten.

Wonder if Simon will get fined for speaking out against the almighty Burke, er, league. Was listening to NHL Home Ice on the way home. More and more, I begin to realize that everyone on that channel are a bunch of Anaheim slappies. "Pronger shouldn't be suspended more than a game, if at all. More than that would be grossly excessive." And, of course, they echoed the cries of the Ducks "fans": "It was Kesler's fault, really! He interfered with Pronger and Pronger got frustrated! What was he supposed to do? If anything, Kesler should face a suspension too!" Okay, by that brilliant logic: It was Steve Moore's fault. It was Tuomo Ruutu's fault. It was Donald Brashear's fault. Shall I continue? Bunch of @#$%ing tools, the whole lot of them. I give up.

Sorry, I've obviously been spending too much time at Fark.
-
Nah, they just want to know if he's really Alfred E. Neuman and if they can get an autograph. The resemblance is uncanny.
-
I may be going off the deep end here (and tell me if I am, I insist), but if Pronger doesn't get suspended at all, I think Chris Simon has every right to sue the league for lost wages.
-
I know I read this in a sports opinion column somewhere and can't for the life of me remember where, but the suggestion might be valid... Does anyone think Chris Pronger should be "randomly" tested for steroids about now? His outbursts of anger are eerily reminiscent of "roid rage". If it ain't roid rage, he simply has SERIOUS anger issues that need to be worked out - off the ice.
-
It definitely was, by nearly an hour. vs. I swear, I'm really turning into a conspiracy nut over this. And I don't like it one bit.
-
One of these days, we'll stop being surprised when stuff like this happens. Until then...

Am I not allowed to watch this weekend?
-
Looks like McKenzie's backpedaling now with the new video clip and even HE can see now that Pronger should have been suspended. http://www.tsn.ca/blogs/mckenzie/?id=231994

That clip is pretty damning. Well, to anyone with eyes, at least. "I'm blind! I'm deaf! I wanna be Director of Hockey Operations!" Yeah, doesn't have quite the same ring...

Chris Simon stomped on Ruutu's foot/skate where there is significantly more protection than a calf, which is where Pronger stomped on Kesler. Depending on where Kesler was stomped, the only protection that may have been there is a sock. A SOCK. If, for instance, you were in the kitchen and accidentally dropped, say, a knife on your foot, what would you prefer to be covering your foot - a sock or a shoe? Colin Campbell is in Brian Burke's pocket, simple as that.
-
*blink* I stopped watching the game after it was 3-1 Dallas (Lost and Reaper started recording on my DVR at 9 and I can't watch a third program)...and I come on here after watching Lost to see that the Wings won 5-3. The hell?
-
McKenzie loves Pronger and the Ducks though, so I'm not terribly surprised at his column. He's just another cog in the conspiracy.

FRANZENSTEIN!!!

Two words for all of this: BUSH. LEAGUE. Today's non-action is just the summation of all the crap that's been going this season in terms of officiating, league discipline, etc. If it wasn't clear before today that he's in bed with Burke and the Anaheim Ducks, it damn well is clear now. Campbell and Bettman are doing everything in their power to get the Ducks to the Finals again and now the team knows that they can proceed with any degree of goonery they want and be certain that they won't see a lick of punishment as a result. If Pronger can use his skate as a weapon and nothing happens, they won't think anything of stick swinging, elbows, sucker punches, etc. - at least not if it's an Anaheim player doing it. Screw all of this. There IS a conspiracy. That's the only logical explanation because NO ONE can be that blind. Everyone else around the league can see what Pronger did and why it needs to be punished - except, apparently, for Gary Bettman, Colin Campbell, Brian Burke and the Anaheim Ducks. Despicable.
