Heh, I realized that after I posted. Oops. Sorry about that. Definitely, Rule 78 doesn't apply. When it comes down to it, Homer wasn't in the crease, didn't initiate contact and when Giguere initiated contact, the puck was already in the net.
-
VERY good to hear. Wow...
-
Holy s***...any updates on his condition? I know the only reason Malarchuk didn't die was because the first aid crew was on his end of the rink...
-
Nope. Still doesn't apply. The ref f***ed up, but neither rule applies. That rule assumes that the offending player is in the crease...which Holmstrom WASN'T. Goal should stand.
-
Great minds think alike.
-
Homer was the "attacking player" outside the crease. However, he did not initiate the contact - the goalkeeper did. Therefore, rule doesn't apply, goal should stand.
-
Simply put...refs disallowed a goal on another phantom Homer interference call, a goal that would have tied up the game. Ref was on the wrong side of the net to make the call and the puck was in the net well before Giguere made contact with Homer (not the other way around). Meanwhile, in the 2nd period, Chris Kunitz (who should have been in the box for roughing at the time anyway) interfered with Osgood, stripping away a frozen puck, leading to a Ducks goal. Just business as usual.
-
Ah, like when Giguere tripped the hell out of Franzen in front of the net in the first and there was no call whatsoever. Seems like that balanced out. Mind you, I didn't even watch the third (as I said, too disgusted), but considering the lack of legitimate should-have-been-obvious calls made against the Ducks. Besides, you can guarantee that the refs would have found any other way to disqualify a PP goal there.

This is why I don't want to play the Ducks in the playoffs. Not because I don't think we can beat THEM - I know we can beat the Ducks in a seven-game series. I just don't think we can beat THE REFS in a seven-game series against the Ducks. This kind of blatant rule-breaking bulls*** (interfering with our tender, 7 men on the ice leading to a goal, rampant interference on our guys, etc.) has happened FAR TOO OFTEN when we play the Ducks for it to be coincidence. The last time I was this fed up with the league? Last postseason against the Ducks. No coincidence.
-
And this is why I'm glad I stopped watching this game after the 2nd. I had a feeling that we were going to get a crucial goal called off in the 3rd...and I was right. Babcock, Holland and Illitch need to take this to the league offices. There is NO reason that the officials for this game shouldn't be reprimanded/fined.
-
But to win back-to-back Cups, you need to: A) Win back-to-back years (2009 doesn't come after 2007 ) B) Make the playoffs in that second year (Ducks are nowhere near a lock yet)
-
Wait...did NBC just say that DETROIT is trying to get away with whatever they can (Babcock chirping at the refs, etc.)?! WOW. Smoke a little MORE crack, guys.
-
Nice fight...but I'm still done with this game if we don't score before the end of the 2nd.
-
Oops, forgot about that too. If we add last season, we also get to tack on: - The Ducks are allowed 7 skaters on the ice and if a goal is scored during that time, it won't be contested - Offsides is only called against the Ducks if they don't have a legitimate scoring chance or pressure And the Ducks score again. I'm done with this if we don't score another goal before the end of the period.

What a worthless PP.
-
Wow. We get a PP. We SHOULD get more after the whole Kunitz BS.
-
We should compile a list of rules on the ice that it's okay for the Ducks to violate, according to the officials .Just in this game alone, we have: - Punches to the face of an opposition player - Tripping a player in front of your crease (goaltender) - Interference when an opposition player is streaking to the net - Stripping a frozen puck from the goaltender Sound about right?
-
Refs botch it again. Ozzie had the puck frozen, gets stripped from him, Ducks score.
-
Thanking him for getting punched in the face by Kunitz, who in turn gets no penalty? Okay.
-
Wow. Horrible officiating again. Kiss more Ducks ass, you @#$%ing losers.
-
Wait...are you KIDDING me?!?!? 4-on-4?!?!?!?
-
And Franzen drops some F-bombs at Getzlaf.
-
Sammy draws a penalty. Love it.
