And that's the mentality that killed us with Legace when we lost to to the Oilers; he was named playoff starter way too soon and then when his play didn't hold up into the end of the season. I don't think we should even be considering a playoff starter until the last week of the regular season.

You know...that's actually the best comparison I've heard for the whole Mogilny/Malakhov deal. Makes perfect sense. When you put it that way, I'm not so irked about how Lou did that.

But those bonuses will count toward next year's cap and not this year's. It's a ridiculous bonus stipulation (because it's so easily obtainable) and as such, it's bypassing this year's cap limitations. It's all within the system of rules, but using the rules to one's advantage, no matter how underhanded it may look, is exactly the same thing that Burke bitched at Lowe for last year.

Ah, I wasn't aware that Brunstrom spent seven months "contemplating retirement". Oh wait, he didn't. It's this whole bulls*** excuse of being "semi-retired" that irks me when it comes to Selanne. Would I give a s*** if Forsberg came back to the Flyers? Nope, his is an injury concern. Did I get pissed off when Cujo went to the Flames? Nope, since he wasn't pulling this "semi-retired" bulls***. It's not even apples and oranges. It's apples and lawnmowers.

From TSN's article... If it takes ANY player "several months" to figure out if they still have the determination to play hockey...well, that's not too convincing. It's like the wife who asks her husband, "Does this dress make me look fat?" and the husband taking too long to answer. No answer that he gives will be convincing by that point. I lost a lot of respect for Teemu today.

And Niedermayer had the audacity to mention how he thought the ASG was a "nice break" for him, not realizing how much more of an ass it makes him look and sound like. All-Star weekend is a bust. Wake me up when there's some real hockey again.

Yeah, I didn't even catch/know who the other two judges were (I knew Clement and Mellanby, obviously). Lame. Doubt I'll even bother with the game tomorrow, considering how dull this was.

Agreed. Even as a fan, this whole thing was tough to watch. A casual fan wouldn't even bother, not to mention a non-fan. Again, epic fail.

Ovechkin was the only one that made that event worth watching. Clement is a friggin' tool for the Ducks. And then the scoring for Kovalchuk completely invalidated any legitimacy for the event. If you're gonna give high scores to a hometown favorite, even if he didn't DO anything...well, it's all out the window. Bettman? Your idea fails.

This judging is ridiculous. Clement creams himself over Getszlaf. AND THERE'S THE FIRST "IF CROSBY WERE HERE..." COMMENT! Completely unfounded too, since Crosby doesn't really have moves like that.
