Legace (on the ice): "I stopped one, I mean, I'm only five foot nothing!"
-
#6...he's getting lit up. Mind you, this is a YoungStars game...I don't think he's going to risk tweaking his groin or anything.
-
You've GOT to be kidding me. The @#$%ing JONAS BROTHERS? When did this become the Teenybopper Hockey League?
-
Is it just me or are there a lot of F-bombs being dropped out there? I can't tell if they're saying that or "puck".
-
Same here. It's impossible to see their moves properly when the camera is right on top of them like that. If they do this trailing camera BS for the breakaway challenge...well, it wouldn't surprise me, let's just say that. Can't believe that Dats wasn't chosen for the shootout. Thomas just started breakdancing in the crease.
-
Nick in the shootout competition. Interesting. And Thomas stops him.
-
This is practically worthless to watch. Would you have a court-level camera following a slam-dunk contest? Of course not. This is just asinine. Gomez scores on Ozzie. Not that I could see how he did it.
-
Oh my god, this camera work is ATROCIOUS. Why the hell would you have a following camera during a shootout?! You can't even see what the shooter is doing until they show the replay. Good job, Versus. Good job, NHL. You've actually made the shootout WORSE.
-
They're really screwing this up already. They have Kovy all ready to go and... "Oh wait, Campbell goes in now." They have no idea what the hell they're doing down there. Embarassing.
-
Wow, way to have a legible event clock, Versus. What is that, 8 pt font?
-
4-for-4 for Dats on the saucer pass over the barricade.
-
Well, Ozzie got one goal...probably didn't help that Pronger was feeding him pucks, though.
-
HA! In demonstrating the Obstacle Course, they used 2K Sports versions of Zetts, Dats and Dom! This should be interesting...and Ozzie gets to try and score some goals.
-
Oh boy. A chat with Pronger coming up. I...can't...contain...my...excitement.
-
I think it definitely says something when for a lot of these guys, it's their first All-Star appearance.
-
Pisses me off that Selfish Scott didn't get booed off the ice. F'ing fraud.
-
Dunno, but it was kind of neat that the first two players they interviewed were Nick and Ovy. And not a single mention of he-who-should-not-be-mentioned yet!
-
What time does the skills competition start today anyway? I'm stuck at work until about 4 and I need to know if I need to have the wife DVR it for me.
-
I remember reading that after this whole debacle with Selfish Scott and Tentative Teemu, the NHL is seriously considering altering the rules, implementing deadlines on players who are waffling over deciding on retirement. For instance, if you can't decide by December 1st, you're ineligible to return to the NHL until the following season.

Detroit looking to reward Babcock with long-term deal
edicius replied to SouthernWingsFan's topic in General
I'll be happy with this. The only thing that annoys me more than a goalie-go-round in Detroit is the phenomenon of constantly desiring change behind the bench. -
Heard it on XM 204 this evening and it sounded worthy of Eklund, despite him being nowhere in site. Khabibulin for Chelios, straight up. You may commence laughing your asses off.

Oh wait, that was the playoffs last season. It goes both ways. As for the goal that the Ducks scored, they never should have been on the powerplay there. That penalty called against Filppula was ridiculous - I thought holding penalties actually required some degree of actually "holding". Hockey is about skill, yes. But it's also about luck. How many times last playoff did we run into problems due to a broken stick? It happens. Whining about Beauchemin's broken stick is just as annoying as us whining about the bogus penalty on Datsyuk last season that turned the series (and yes, I fully admit to being annoying and whiny ). Who's to say that Beauchemin's clearing pass wouldn't have been intercepted even without the stick breaking? Who's to say that if it did clear that it wouldn't have resulted in more chances for the Wings overall and changed the whole look of the game? The bottom line is that we won the game, we were physical and we stood up to the Ducks, despite countless cheapshotting attempts (Weight, Niedermayer, Beauchemin, Giguere, etc.) and the like. What's better is that it was 1) on a West Coast swing, 2) the tail end of a back-to-back and 3) a game in which Zetterberg and, for all intents and purposes, Cleary didn't play. If Beauchemin's going to get a "bad luck" pass for a broken stick, I think we can trump that with the aforementioned points.
-
I said it last night and I'll say it again...when the hell did we get GOOD on these West Coast swings? We just beat the Ducks...on the tail end of back-to-back games...without Zetterberg for the entire game...and without Cleary for most of it. I think that's a victory, people.
-
And THAT is how you send the Ducks to a two-game losing streak!

Puck is iced...a few more seconds left. Win the faceoff, guys.
