The only team currently below the Ducks in their division that isn't fully capable of overtaking them with games in hand is Los Angeles. Their rank in the conference is skewed right now. Look at the standings. If every team below Anaheim in the standings - those capable of overtaking them with games in hand - does what they need to, Anaheim instantly drops to 13th in the conference, ahead of only Edmonton and Los Angeles. Even if only half of those teams (consisting of Colorado, St. Louis, Columbus, Phoenix, Nashville and Chicago) manage to overtake Anaheim, they still end in 10th - well out of the postseason. Even WITH Selanne, they certainly wouldn't be out of the woods.

The only problem with that is that it makes it so much easier for the team to score an empty net goal with no fear of icing the puck.
