And another crappy hooking call.
-
Another Carolina penalty. Interference.
-
PP upcoming, delay of game on the Canes. "I'm getting nothin' for Christmas..."
-
That's a strange one, but it looked like Ward had his own player to thank for that one. Goal's been given to Sammy for right now, but the puck was already in by the time he poked at it.
-
It's a goal! Flipper gets it.
-
Puck's in, was underneath Ward's right leg. Now it's up to whether or not the ref intended to blow the whistle.
-
Nice feed by Dats to Homer. Had that connected, that woulda been a gimme. I love when we look like we're on a power play when we're actually at even strength. Puck possession FTW. Goal? No goal? The ref isn't talking.
-
And just to show my support of Hasek tonight... Got this one on clearance for really cheap after he retired the first time.

I'll be here. A little surprised that Dom's getting the start, but considering how much Ozzie's had Nashville's number recently, it makes sense. Especially considering the lack of success we've had against the Central thus far. Looking at our stats, I still can't believe we're 8-0-0 against the Northwest.

Hey, I made that image last season!
-
Meanwhile, Randy Carlyle and Brian Burke didn't think Pronger should have been suspended either time in the playoffs last season. Since when do we value the opinions of opposing coaches/GMs? Talk about cherrypicking...
-
You underestimate us, harold. I honestly think all this uproar is because it was Dom. If Ozzie did it, the attitude would likely be different. (And you know I'm more an Ozzie fan than a Dom fan, so I ain't sugarcoating this.) Dom made the play to stop the puck. If successful, he stops the puck on a clear breakaway. If unsuccessful, Gaborik scores on an empty net. If Vladdy flipped a player (like he did to Lemieux, Lindros, etc.), we all oohed and aahed - and Vladdy's hits were HITS. Dom's was a defensive play to stop the puck. Gaborik going end over end was an unintended (but, admittedly, spectacular looking) side effect. If it were to happen to one of our players...sure, we'd probably feel a little differently. But I'd like to think that I'd also be objective enough to say, "His head was down and (the goaltender) was coming out to make a save. That's hockey." You know, I think this is what a lot of Wings fans should do to eliminate (or at least reduce) bias from their game-watching: Watch a bunch of random games from around the league (if you have Center Ice) where you have no stake one way or the other in the teams playing, i.e. if you like the Rangers better than the Thrashers, don't watch; if you don't care either way about the Coyotes and the Kings, watch. Pay attention to the officiating. Pay attention to the hitting. Pay attention to the playmaking. Without an emotional investment in the game, it's a hell of a lot more likely to see what's really going on on the ice (Did the ref really botch a call? Did that player really deserve a penalty? Was that really a late hit?). It might help.

I remember flipping through channels when I was younger and as I passed CBC...there was some movie with some woman running around naked. And we're talking full-frontal nudity. So, needless to say, Canadians aren't as hung up on this inconsequential stuff as we United Staters.
-
Perhaps...but you have to admit that Minnesota had a hell of a lot more quality chances that Dom stopped than Montreal did. Dom really made some fantastic saves tonight. And before you say anything, I've been one of his detractors as of late, so if I think he played well, I ain't sugarcoating things. And flipping Gaborik was just the icing on the cake.
-
Honestly, I'd still love to see us keep alternating...if Dom can stay hot (and after a performance like tonight's...yowza!), keep BOTH tenders hot. Combined with Zata and the crew of scorers, we'd be unstoppable. And then we could take over the world.
-
Someone needs to make an animated avatar of it for loo.
-
You'll have to puree my crow for me, on account of my teeth.
-
Dom came waaaaay out of the net to stop a Gaborik breakaway, Gaborik had his head down and tripped over Dom - END OVER END. It was a thing of BEAUTY. And Dom stopped the puck, to boot.
-
loo, you NEED to catch highlights tonight. Ladies and gentlemen...DOMINIK HASEK IS BACK!!!
-
TRIPPING ON DOM, BUT THAT WAS SO WORTH IT!!!!!!!
-
Zetts is back in 2nd place in the scoring race, tied with Crosby.
-
Steroid suspension for the first 19 games of this season, I believe?
-
Actually, if the Wild scored right now (knock on wood), Dom would still be at a .944 SV% for the game, so not too shabby. Of course, 1.000 SV% is always nice too.
-
Dom does NOT want a faceoff in their zone.
-
*throws a hat at terri* I'm getting greedy now. I want more goals. I hope Wayne's watching. And loo, Dom's looking great tonight. Not much action for him, like the Montreal game, but the degree of difficulty of shots is higher in this game.
