It bugged me when in the post-game, Marty nonchalantly tried to toss the entire blame for the loss onto the rest of the team... "Well, I only looked bad because we couldn't score any goals." No, Marty...you looked bad because you played poorly this postseason. True, the Devils needed better scoring...but they needed better goaltending too. You can't expect Marty to be a rock 100% of the time, but he should at least own up to the fact that he just wasn't very good in EITHER series this year (if Holmqvist had played better earlier in the TB series, Jersey would have been sent packing in five). Like I said in another thread regarding tonight's game...he can complain about lack of scoring all he wants, but did he really expect the DEVILS - the 2nd worst offense in the Eastern Conference, only ahead of Philly - to score four goals in the game, three of them having to come in the 3rd? Nuh-uh.

That's just bizarre, but I only say that because I'm used to the NHL system. I suppose it doesn't really matter once it comes down to the Conference Finals and the Finals, since there's no possibility of those overlapping.

And looking at the Vezina candidates, I love the fact that three out of the four are already out of the postseason (with Lundqvist being the only one still standing). Another brilliant bit in the post-game...Ken Daneyko and, uh, the other guy (forget his name) mentioned that they thought Elias hadn't totally recovered from all his injuries/illnesses/etc. So then they call Elias into the studio and start right off talking about that. "So, how are you feeling?" "Uh...fine. Why?"

You know, considering how well we played today after Schneids got injured, I think our defensive corps are in pretty good shape. Our forwards are playing really good defense and that helps.

Yep, when I initially saw it, I didn't see it go in...until I saw the angle from behind the net. Then, it could easily be seen that it bounced the twine.

They just embarassed themselves. The Sens were just flying right past them and the Devils could do little more than fall down and...that was about it. Matvichuk is being diplomatic, "We thought we'd be in good shape with Lou behind the bench...but you can't blame the coaching staff, it's the players on the ice that need to get it done." True, but the Devils haven't looked champion-calibre since Julien got fired. Not a coincidence, I think. Murray's got his press conference going right now.

Ouch, in the post-game, they pulled Matvichuk into the studio to talk to him. I know if I was him, I wouldn't want to be talking about this series.

I knew Lou wouldn't last two rounds. Was surprised he lasted one. Wonder if I can blame Marty's lackluster play on him somehow.
