Lilja. I really WANTED him to be good this season.

I have a feeling that in some cases, the Pens have been playing to tie - not to win - at the end of regulation and OT, because they know they can win in the shootout with Crosby and Malkin. Mind you, I haven't been watching the Pens in the games that have gone to shootout, so I could be completely wrong. We'll see what happens in the playoffs. I have a feeling they'll fold hard in the first or second round (depending on who they play) when they realize that they can't force a shootout.

There's absolutely no way we're getting Biron. The Flyers aren't going to give him up. I see it as Ozzie and Howard next season, provided Dom retires.

Oops, my bad. Not sure how I missed that when looking at the standings. Calgary's in much the same boat as us - good at home, bad on the road (although 9-18-8 is a bit more than just "bad"). (Yeah, yeah, couldn't sleep, sue me... )

Oops, I erred, but just slightly. We're 19-14-4 on the road right now, so one game above .500. At home, though? 26-4-5. Big difference. Only team in the league that can compare to our home record is Nashville with a 26-6-4 record.

Point taken. Mind you, I don't want to take any road trips to Calgary...but in the postseason, we'd undoubtedly have home ice over them, so that's a definite plus considering how ineffective they've been. Still, it's cause for concern when the Wings are (with OTLs) below .500 on the road. We've always been such a great road team. Now this season, we're phenomenal at home and below average on the road. Not sure what I think about that tradeoff yet.

I think it's partly that, plus the fact that we've been poor on the road this season, not to mention horrendous on western road trips. Doesn't bode well for us when the postseason comes around, that's for sure.

I was watching that Jersey/Carolina game...the Canes were just getting some fantastic deflections in on Brodeur. He just didn't have a chance out there. By the time Clemmensen came in, the damage was already too far gone. To give you an idea, by the time the Devils were down 4-0, they had only recorded 6 shots on John Grahame. SIX. And that was halfway through the game.

Hey, I didn't think our guys would be knocking on the door at the top of the league either, so I'm also pleasantly surprised. I honestly thought that Luongo would suffer on a Western Conference team and be exposed as a servicable, but average tender (a la Khabibulin)...but damn it if he didn't prove me REALLY wrong this season.

I won't dispute that I thought a lot of the early penalties on the Wings were questionable (hey, I can be a homer sometimes, right?), but as the game went on, the penalties we took were just pure laziness and not paying attention to what the hell we're doing. The stunningly obvious too-many-men penalty and Cheli's delay of game were evidence of that.

Hey, we're not supposed to like each other...that's perfectly natural. But I can definitely respect what your guys have done this season, especially with a goaltender that might actually be able to get you deep in the playoffs for a change. Should be interesting to see what Roberto can do. Mind you, I'll be rooting against them the entire way.

3/6 on Friday and if the Los Angeles/CBJ game holds up, I'll be 7/11 for Saturday (the Wings didn't disappoint me tonight... ). 10/17...hoping Sunday keeps me above .500 for the weekend.

Your defense still looked damn good tonight though. Kept our guys in the corners, forcing bad angle shots.
