The All-Star game would suddenly turn into a trap-fest to avoid anyone getting hurt. Gone would be the days of 12-9 scores...you'd be lucky to have 3 goals between the two teams. I've always loved the Super Skills competition part of (what used to be) the All-Star weekend. It's fun to watch and it looks like the players are having fun too. It's the NHL equivalent of the NBA's Slam Dunk contest. The game itself, though - including the YoungStars game - is boring as hell. I can't remember a time that I've ever actually watched an entire All-Star game. And that's a shame - a die-hard hockey fan who can't bring himself to give a damn about an All-Star game. If they got rid of the game entirely, I wouldn't be heartbroken.

This quote just baffles me: Call me later when Versus is actually part of my cable package. I'm not paying an extra $5/month to watch that crappy-ass network. I paid for OLN for a few months last season. Wasn't impressed - not with their hockey programming and not with anything else they had.
-
If I remember correctly, even though ESPN's NHL ratings were low...they were at least double that of Versus. Kind of says something.
-
Forgot about Dino's quote too... "I can't believe I shook this friggin' guy's hand after the game. That pisses me right off."
-
Forsberg isn't even sure if he'll be game ready and isn't going to waive his no-trade clause if he isn't game ready.
-
Talent-wise, it would be nice to have Forsberg on the roster. But logically...well, he's practically on the verge of retiring with this whole foot problem of his, not to mention the perpetual groin pulls. Were we to get him, I doubt he'd even be healthy for the playoffs.

Millen says, "I'll never quit." http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/16442290/from/RS.1/
-
And you just know that comment was made by some bleeding heart liberal (and as a liberal, I feel justified in busting on my own gang ) who's never watched a hockey game before in his life, but knows all about it from the Bertuzzi/Moore incident. Either that, or an idiot like Mike Celizic from MSNBC.com.

Maybe everyone will begin to realize that it's NOT Detroit and it's the NBA as a whole that needs an attitude adjustment.
-
I...don't know how I feel about this. I hate Forsberg...but it's likely derived from his talent (when he's not injured). However, with Zetts and Lids...he could fit.

Already 2-0 Tigers in the bottom of the first.
-
We don't hate Muffin. He's the shining example of the perfect player.
-
Now I'm glad I'm not the only one that thought that.

THE YANKEES LOSE!! THEEEEEEEEEEEE YANKEES LOSE!!
-
I don't know who that was on the mound tonight, but that could not have been Kenny Rogers! That was a performance reminiscent of Curt Schilling in '04! *bows to Kenny's greatness*

Another chance to laugh at the Pens. It's almost as if they're TRYING to be horrid so they can stack their team with low first-rounders. Word of advice, Pittsburgh...your problems extend beyond the crease.

Eh, Eklund is on XM sometimes. And on Home Ice, I know they get some of their rumors from Eklund. Therefore, there's little credibility on Home Ice (which is a shame, since it would be nice to have a GOOD hockey channel on XM).

And the same article says: As for why talks are stalled, TSN says it's because of incentives (with Belfour signing at league minimum) and not because of talks with Aebischer.
-
I'd rather have Aebischer than Legace. Aebischer has a cocky streak in him like Roy did, a stark contrast to Legace's "woe is me" schtick. And plus, Aebischer ain't a bad tender. I think last season was an aberration for him, statswise.

Mortgage the future for the present. Hmm. Sounds positively Yankee-ish to me. Who said the Wings were no longer the Yanks of the NHL?
-
I must be on crack, because I just read this explanation of bonuses under the new CBA:
-
I thought both Crosby and Ovechkin's contracts were performance bonus laden with incentives that would get them up to nearly $4M. I could have sworn I read that here, but I could be talking out of my ass.
-
I saw that and my initial reaction was "NO. Screw 'im." Let him go, Kenny. Let him go. Hey, I wouldn't mind if the Rangers signed him. Would give me a good reason to see more Rangers games.
-
If Holland offers Shanny $4M/yr, he's even more stupid than Lou Lamoriello.
