Yea. Cuz having Lebda in the line-up instead of Stuart is going to help our chances

I always took that as more of a negotiating tool. Never did I actually think that he was serious about that. It always had the scent of BS. If he wanted to go to Sweden that badly, he would've gone already.

Wings & Babcock working out a contract

Keep an eye on the Oil. They play these Yotes tomorrow night in EDM so they definitely have the advantage in getting that extra day's rest. After that they play VAN/COL/MIN/CAL 2 games each. If they pick up points tomorrow and put together a nice string of victories in those divisional games, they could squeak into the 8th seed just like they did back in 2006. God kill me if we end up playing the Oil again in the 1st round.

But then Burkie and the Ducks wouldn't be able to bring the Stanley Cup back to the hockey hotbed of Orange County, California!

Gordie Howe Hat-Trick for Carcillo tonight???

Well in that case, I will keep my avatar.

When all the news about Brunnstrom started to come out, the word in the media was that his agent was looking for a contract at the rookie max. I'm pretty sure the rookie max is somewhere around $3.7M. If that is still true, I do not see him coming to the Wings.

I'm torn on this one. On one hand, I want the Canucks to win because I am rooting for the Oilers to finish as high as possible in the league as they can. With EDM and PHX tied at 77 points each, the only seperation is PHX has this game in hand. A Canucks victory would give the Oilers a better chance at finishing above the PHX. Reason being is I want Anaheim to get as low of a pick as possible from Edmonton. On the other hand, I want Phoenix to win simply because PHX is the weaker team and cannot put up the same fight in a playoff series against us as the Canucks could. Either way, I'm going to see disappointment.

I didn't think he would but Babcock was counting on him to. You have to remember that at the beginning of the year Franzen-Datsyuk-Holmstrom made up the first line until Johan got hurt. After losing Lang, Williams, and Schneider's goals, management was relying on Franzen to be one of those guys who would replace what we had lost.

Lebda was traded for draft pick(s) in my proposal. I don't think signing a top-six forward is going to boot one of the 4th liners like McCarty or Downey off the team. My feeling is if we sign a Rolston-type player, either Samuelsson or Hudler will be traded. Neither of them makes much money and they can put up decent production when given solid minutes and good line-mates, so they could easily be fit into most teams roster. Neither will re-sign here next off-season if they are not guaranteed top-six minutes and Holland won't lose a player for nothing. The hardest thing is going to be figuring out what we are going to do when Zetterberg's next contract comes into play...

Brain Rolston and Fabian Brunnstrom
WhiteLightning91 replied to Hank Dats 'N Homer's topic in General
I wasn't implying that Rolston has any desire to take a pay-cut to play for the Red Wings. Crymson said that Rolston will get more than $3.75M on the free-agent market, which he probably will. My point was, again, that if a player doesn't want to play for those teams that are offering him more money (I have no idea whether or not he does, I'm just saying) then the money is irrelevant. No where did I say he would take a pay-cut in order to wear the winged wheel. -

Lidstrom will get more than $7.45M on the free-agent market. Rafalski will get more than $6M on the free-agent market. Cleary gets more than $2.8M on the free-agent market. The point is, if Rolston doesn't want to play for the teams that are offering him more than what the Red Wings are willing to offer him, the money is irrelevant. -
Brain Rolston and Fabian Brunnstrom

As in him being a 30 goal scorer? Pavel setting him up? Holmstrom screening the goalie? Signing him for $3.75? I want to commend you on your great response. It was a well-thought out post that really got the discussion going. -
Great work by Kopecky there. He just needs more confidence but that will come with playing time.

What the hell is Samuelsson still doing on the point on the PP? I don't know how many quotes I read from Babcock and Holland praising Stuart's PP ability, yet that f*** Samuelsson is still on the point after what, 8 or 9 games?
-
Wow. How the hell do you miss that interference? And it leads to a goal. Sweet job Refs...

Rolston would be a guaranteed 30-goal scorer if he has Pavel setting him up and Holmstrom screening the goalie. I say sign him in the offseason for no more than $3.75M. Brunnstrom is a guy I've read a lot about ubt without seeing him play live, I can't really make a decision on him. I'll leave it up to Lord Hakan.
