First off, here is our cap situation for next season: 2008-09 (Going into the offseason) Pavel Datsyuk 6.7 Daniel Cleary 2.8 Henrik Zetterberg 2.65 Tomas Holmstrom 2.25 Kris Draper 1.583 Mikael Samuelsson 1.2 Jiri Hudler 1.015 Johan Franzen 0.941667 Kirk Maltby 0.883333 Tomas Kopecky 0.5 Nicklas Lidstrom 7.45 Brian Rafalski 6 Niklas Kronwall 3 Brett Lebda 0.65 Derek Meech 0.483 Chris Osgood 1.416667 Cap Number 39.522667 UFA* Dallas Drake Aaron Downey Mark Hartigan Darren McCarty Chris Chelios Andreas Lilja Brad Stuart Dominik Hasek RFA* Valterri Filppula Ryan Oulahen Igor Grigorenko Jonathan Ericsson Kyle Quincey Jimmy Howard Daniel Larsson *There are more UFA's/RFA's than I listed, but I'm only listing the ones who have a shot at getting playing-time in the NHL next season. 2008-09 Line-Up* Hudler - Datsyuk - Holmstrom Franzen - Zetterberg - Samuelsson Maltby - Draper - Cleary Free Agent - Kopecky - Free Agent Free Agent - Free Agent - Free Agent Lidstrom - Rafalski Kronwall - Lebda Meech - Free Agent Free Agent - Free Agent Free Agent - Free Agent Osgood Free Agent Free Agent *Based on players with a contract for next season as of March 16, 2008 2008-09 Line-Up Rolston - Datsyuk - Holmstrom Filppula - Zetterberg - Franzen Maltby - Draper - Cleary Hudler - Kopecky - Samuelsson (Downey - Hartigan - McCarty) Lidstrom - Rafalski Kronwall - Stuart Chelios - Lilja (Meech - Ericsson) (Quincey - Kindl) Osgood Howard Drake: Not re-signed/Retired Lebda: Traded for draft pick(s) Hasek: Not re-signed/Retired 2008-09 (Going into the regular season) Pavel Datsyuk 6.7 Brian Rolston 3.75 Daniel Cleary 2.8 Henrik Zetterberg 2.65 Valterri Filppula* 2.5 Tomas Holmstrom 2.25 Kris Draper 1.583 Mikael Samuelsson 1.2 Jiri Hudler 1.015 Johan Franzen 0.941667 Kirk Maltby 0.883333 Aaron Downey* 0.55 Mark Hartigan* 0.55 Darren McCarty* 0.55 Tomas Kopecky 0.5 Nicklas Lidstrom 7.45 Brian Rafalski 6 Niklas Kronwall 3 Brad Stuart* 3 Andreas Lilja* 1.5 Chris Chelios* 1 Jonathan Ericsson* 0.75 Kyle Quincey* 0.75 Derek Meech 0.483 Chris Osgood 1.416667 Jimmy Howard* 1 Cap Number 54.772667 *Projected That line-up is possible if the expected cap number of $55M is true. It would put us very close tot he cap. My solution would be to trade Samuelsson, Hudler, & Meech for draft picks. Downey and McCarty can be rotated into the line-up whenever the need for their physical play and fists are needed, which is every game so they would be regulars if I was the coach... Love it? Hate it? Discuss!

 My apologies then. Completely misunderstood the post.

However much you think 2 months of grueling adversity is worth.

$4M for Filppula? Lay off the crack pipe people. If that were to happen, it better be a very long-term deal; like Ovechkin long-term. I will be fuming if he gets that kind of a deal. Hell, if he signs a deal for more than Cleary got I'll be fuming. Not so much because he doesn't deserve it, but because you have just set a precedent for people like Franzen, Hudler, and Samuelsson, all of whom have the ability to produce similar numbers to what Flip has. A $4M deal for a guy who has 2 seasons in the league and 54 points in 148 games. Zetterberg had 87 in 140 when he signed his 4-year contract worth $2.65M. No way in hell Filppula gets more than that unless it is a ridiculously long contract, which Holland does not do. 5-year deal for $3M. Even that is pushing it for me, since it is more than Cleary. Filppula's deal will be very telling of what is going to happen with Hudler as well. Take the draft picks if someone is stupid enough to overpay for a guy who hasn't proven he is worthy of more just yet.

My guess is Kopecky will be moved to take over Draper's position as the 3rd line center between Maltby and Drake and Helm will play LW on the 4th line with Hartigan at center with Downey at RW.
-
This only a guess so don't get too bent out of shape if you don't agree, but based on the last few games I think the line will play out as follows: Filppula Datsyuk Hudler Franzen Zetterberg Samuelsson Maltby Kopecky Drake Helm Hartigan Downey Lidstrom Rafalski Kronwall Stuart Chelios Lebda Osgood Howard Injured Holmstrom (Abdominal Inflammation) Cleary (Jaw) Draper (Groin) Lilja (Illness) Hasek (Back)
-
So tonight should look like this I'm guessing... Filppula Datsyuk Hudler Franzen Zetterberg Samuelsson Maltby Kopecky Drake Helm Hartigan Downey Lidstrom Rafalski Kronwall Stuart Chelios Lebda Osgood Howard

My fav is the "overall body soreness" injury. Can't use a more general term then that.

Stupid Question: Anyone know what the qualifications are for a player's salary to be counted against the cap? For example; do Hartigan, McCarty, Quincey, Ericsson, Stafford, and Howard count against our cap number for this year? This is the spreadsheet I have for our current salaries. If you see any errors, feel free to point them out. 2007-08 Pavel Datsyuk 6.7 Henrik Zetterberg 2.65 Tomas Holmstrom 2.25 Kris Draper 2.128 Mikael Samuelsson 1.2 Jiri Hudler 1.015 Johan Franzen 0.941667 Kirk Maltby 0.883333 Valterri Filppula 0.733333 Daniel Cleary 0.6625 Dallas Drake 0.55 Aaron Downey 0.525 Tomas Kopecky 0.5 Matt Ellis 0.358 (Waived) Mark Hartigan 0.168 Darren McCarty 0.12 Nicklas Lidstrom 7.6 Brian Rafalski 6 Niklas Kronwall 3 Chris Chelios 1.15 (Bonus Included) Andreas Lilja 1 Brad Stuart 0.767 Brett Lebda 0.65 Derek Meech 0.483 Jonathan Ericsson 0.124 Kyle Quincey 0.1 Garrett Stafford 0.011 Dominik Hasek 4.05 (Bonus Included) Chris Osgood 0.85 Jimmy Howard 0.09 Cap Number 47.259833 Source: www.NHLnumbers.com

Kopecky and his 4 goals are not going to replace Huds or Sammy next year. I really like Kopecky and was happy to see him get some playing time with Datsyuk tonight, but he will not be replacing those 2 guys next year. He is a different type of player.

I for one hope that San Jose ends up #4 in the conference since the 1-5 (with the exception of the winner in the NW) positions are pretty set. San Jose would then take on Anaheim in the first round. Good for us since that would take out one of the big fish in the West. Unfortunately, I do not see Dallas being able to overtake the division from SJ so Anaheim vs. Dallas in the first round will probably be it. Anaheim in 5.

I'm pretty sure they get 2 pairs of jerseys throughout the season. 1 pair at the beginning and a 2nd pair around the all-star break.
-
I like you're thinking. But if we get him, I say you put him on Datsyuk's wing and move Filppula down to Zetterberg's wing. Come home (well, at least close to it) Brian! Rolston - Datsyuk - Holmstrom Filppula* - Zetterberg - Franzen Maltby - Draper - Cleary McCarty* - Kopecky - Downey* (Love this line if Mac pans out) (Hudler/Hartigan*/Samuelsson) Guaranteed 30-goal season for Brian. *Must be re-signed during offseason
-
I do recall that fight. But I'm talking on a regular basis. He doesn't need to be the next coming of Parros, but god damn, he gets his s*** wrecked every game and doesn't do anything about it.

GET THE PUCK UP STAIRS!
-
Why doesn't Kopecky just drop the gloves and pop Seabrook in the mouth right there? Every time he gets in a scuffle all he does is talk. Stick up for yourself, kid!

How did you find that feed? Its not listed as a choice for me.

I'm about ready to shoot that ******* Horton...

The channels are offline for me on sopcast. Anyone getting a feed for the game?

FA - Datsyuk - Holmstrom FA - Zetterberg - Cleary Maltby - Draper - FA Kopecky - Franzen - Samuelsson 1st Line Free Agent - Filppula 2nd Line Free Agent - UFA who is a sniper/pure goal-scorer 3rd Line Free Agent - McCarty if he proves to be in shape Reserves - Hudler, Downey I see no way that Hudler can make it on this team. We best trade him for something in the offseason or by next trade deadline because I can guarantee he is not going to sign with us if he isn't assured top-six minutes. Same goes for Samuelsson.

No contest. Lilja Size Physical play (I know, not as physical as he should be at his size but much more than Lebda) Strong on PK Blocks shots Lebda Speed Playoff Pairings* Lidstrom-Rafalski Kronwall-Stuart Chelios-Lilja (Lebda/Meech) *Barring injury. (Knocks on wood)

How can the East in the NBA be seperated by 8 points if there are no points in the NBA standings? I'm confused by what Cowlishaw was trying to say.
