Leafs fire GM Jay Ferguson Jr.

I don't think so. The Leaf's haven't quit on Maurice. As long as they keep going through these spurts of losing 5, 6, 7 in a row and then win 4, 5, 6 in a row, it shows that they still believe in Maurice's philosophy. BTW, the coach can only play with the hand he is dealt. They could bring in Bowman and the Leaf's still wouldn't make the playoffs because their defense is so horrendous.

    Washington Capitals

They Capital's are not owned by people who necessarily care about winning the Stanley Cup as much as they care about the amount of revenue and buzz they could generate from even 1 playoff round.

    How about Forsberg?

Hartnell was not involved in the deal. He was traded to Philly with Kimmo Timonen for a 1st rounder. The deal for Forsberg was Parent, Upshall, 1st, and 3rd rounder. The end result; They still got HOSED. As for whether or not we should sign him, I say proceed with caution Kenny. If he does end up signing Forsberg, he better make a trade for another forward as well just in case Forsberg goes down on the 1st shift he sees (knock on wood -- if he takes that shift with the Wings, if not, let fate work itself out)

Zetterberg's Back Has Flared Up Again

I'm seriously getting worried about Zata's back situation and the long-term effects it may have on his play. I just hope to God he doesn't live up to those Forsberg comparisons exactly...

Possible Deals for Cleary, Lilja on the way

They may or may not. Who knows. But since it will realistically only take $1.5M at the most to re-sign Lilja, is it really worth taking the risk of throwing Ericsson, Meech, or Quincey out there? With Lilja, you know what you're going to get. With the other 3, we have no idea yet.

Possible Deals for Cleary, Lilja on the way

Like it or not, Lilja is an important part to our team. Even more so now that Markov is gone. Ken Daniels said a couple games ago that Lilja is the leader on the team in hits and blocked shots. Those stats may not be as glamorous as leading scorer or most goals but they are just as important and are even more so in the playoffs. If he makes another bonehead play in the playoffs though, I will kill him.

    Samuelsson does not fit in

I dont think people would complain about Samuelsson nearly as much if he was relegated to 3rd line always. Its been said many times that he is too good for 4th line duty but not good enough to be on the top 2 lines. He makes $1.2M a season and for the amount of production you get from him, it is a good deal. I just hope he doesn't think he's in the same boat as Filppula and Cleary when it comes to him getting an extension next year, meaning he does not deserve as big of a raise as those 2. In comparison to the others with the same amount of production as Sammy: Lombardi: $1.55M Pyatt: $1.575M Elias: $7.5M Satan: $4.5M Filppula: $850K Wow...The only one making less money than Samuelsson and putting as getting as much production as him is our man Flap Jack. If that doesn't prove we have the best front office in hockey...

    1/19 GDT: Red Wings 6, Sharks 3

Hasek Will Start In San Jose - MLive Babcock: "I'm still kind of alternating, I just went with Dom because I like the way he played the other night (vs. Vancouver),'' Babcock said. "In my mindset before the game, I said to myself if he plays good he's going again. ... In my mind right now, I'm thinking Ozzie in L.A., Ozzie the first game back after the break (Jan. 30 vs. Phoenix). In saying that, it's always day-to-day.'' (For those of you who read RedWingsCorner) Bruce McLeod: I will not be traveling with the Red Wings on their three-game West Coast trip leading into the all-star break. (Newspaper's choice; not mine.) I'll still be posting, but there won't be updates this week from practices, etc. What the hell DetNews???

Mike Green is looking very good

No...but we did draft Brendan Smith. With Quincey and Meech getting chances with the big club last season and this season, wouldn't it make sense to draft another Dman??? You do have to replace people. Green would've been drafted when none of our D prospects even had a chance in the AHL.

Mike Green is looking very good

How can you possibly say Mike Green would look good on our blueline when there is no way of even knowing whether or not the Red Wings would have drafted him with that pick? It's not like we dealt him as one of our prospects. I, for one, do not think we would've taken him anyway. We had plenty of Dmen already in our system at that point. In 2000 we drafted Kronwall. In 2001 we got Bykov. Meech and Ericsson were selected in 2002. Quincey was picked in 2003. In addition we had Fischer already being groomed by Chelios to be a future leader on our blue line. Not to mention our first 2 picks in the '04 draft were forwards. Would Green look nice on our blue line? Absolutely! But who knows whether or not we would've even taken him with a prospect pool filled with decent defenseman already...Getting upset over who you COULD'VE drafted makes as much sense as getting upset over who you SHOULD'VE traded for. coulda...woulda...shoulda

    1/12 GDT: Senators 3, Red Wings 2

I never said it was all Samuelsson's fault. I was merely pointing out that the last PP was a direct result of him not backchecking. What's so frustrating about it is the fact that this guy keeps getting pats on the back from Babcock as being a good two-way forward.

Samuelsson should be shot! If he actually covers his man instead of just watching Spezza blow by him Lidstrom isn't in a position where he has to take a penalty! f*** OFF SAMUELSSON!

CuJo to sign with Calgary or San Jose

This should put an end to the CuJo to SJ rumors... Exactly what I said...
  23. WhiteLightning91

    hudler-filppula-cleary-franzen

How's that? The cap number is tied to league revenue. The more money the league makes, the more money the players make. What's wrong with that?
  24. WhiteLightning91

CuJo to sign with Calgary or San Jose

SJ may have nothing in net beyond Nabokov, but more importantly, they have no one on offense beyond Thornton. My feeling is that CuJo would like to go some where he actually has, all be it a small one, to start. SJ does not fit that equation.
  25. WhiteLightning91

CuJo to sign with Calgary or San Jose

No way CuJo signs with San Jose. There needs are secondary scoring (sound familiar?) so adding CuJo is sort've a lateral move for them. They are no closer to winning a Cup with CuJo on the team than they are without him. Nabokov is an elite goalie and will still be the undisputed #1 in SJ even if CuJo was to sign there. For that reason, I don't see Joseph being signed in SJ. Calgary is a better possibility since Kiprusoff, though solid lately, still isn't playing above a .900 SV% but the Flames have been on a roll lately and are seeing improvements from Miikka. Over the last 5 games he's gone 4-1 with a .919 SV%. No way they mess with Kiprusoff's head by bringing in Curtis. My picks for CuJo's services Carolina - Ward is not the same goalie as a few seasons back for whatever reason and could use some mentoring. Pittsburgh - When Conklin comes back down to Earth, that is, if he does.
