Living up to the $4M he signed for during the off-season would be a good start (no pun intended).
-
It's called the league minimum, Champ. Something Drake is deserving of right now, and not receiving.

Oh please. You really need a link? Every time we read something on Hasek it is mentioned that he is going to be the goalie come playoff time. Why on earth should he be? Has he earned it? No. Has he played like a playoff goalie this season? No. Is he 32nd in GAA? Yes. Is he DEAD LAST in the SV % category? Yes. So based on those facts you're telling me that the name on the back of his jersey doesn't have something to do with him getting starts still? What if the name was "Hodson" and he was playing the exact same way? Would he have 11 starts already and getting his 12th sometime in the next 2 games? I think you know the answer to that. The only reason why Hasek is getting starts on a semi-regular basis is because of his past glory...not because he is earning them...and yea, I am a little miffed about that.
-
No one said that at all but Hasek has been abysmal this year. I'm not saying show Hasek the door and bring up Howard, but why should the Red Wings risk losing games just because the guy who has been sitting on the bench this year has the name "Hasek" on the back of his jersey? Until Hasek finds his form, which, after 11 games, he should have found by now, Osgood is going to start the majority of games. That's how it should be. The goalie playing better should get the majority of starts. This isn't an attack on Hasek. Its a reality check. Osgood at 11-1-1 > Hasek at 5-5-1

You're telling me McCarty would bring less to this team than Drake?
-
Apparently he's not familiar with our good friend Pooh bear.
-
Oh, don't get me wrong. I am fully aware of the hot streak PHX is on right now. I just think it would be better for Hasek to start a game at home against PHX instead of an away game against MTL. Those Habs fans can get to even the most confident of players. That and the fact that their PP is #1 in the league and us not having one of our top PK'ers (Draper) in the line-up for that game, could spell disaster for Dom.
-
Especially when we have the #1 PP team (Montreal) in the league coming up next week... Better start Hasek against Phoenix or else he is gonna get lit up by MTL. I feel a lot more confident with Osgood in net against Montreal's PP than with Hasek at this point in time. If the last position comes down between Downey and Kopecky on Thursday, someone better get a memo out to Babcock about Phoenix's Daniel Carcillo. He isn't very big. But he knows how to throw his weight around and can hold his own pretty well in a fight. Better keep Downey in for that reason alone.

I would be ABSOLUTELY ECSTATIC is McCarty was back in the Winged Wheel!!! No way a 35 year old McCarty can be any worse than a 38 year old Drake. Probably would come even cheaper as well. I just can't believe that the reason his game declined so much in Calgary was because his passion for the game and usefulness as player diminished. I think it had to do a lot more with issues that happened in his personal life and that caused him to not be able to focus on hockey as much in the past. But who can blame him? The guy was losing his marriage and kids. That can bring a lot of stress to anyone. McCarty is not out there to score. He would know his role better than anyone. I remember McCarty always being a pretty good skater as well. Playing with 2 speedy forwards like Malts and Drapes, you would have to be. Consider this the OFFICIAL BRING BACK DARREN McCARTY THREAD!!! :beerbuddy:

According to RedWingsCorner, this is completely premature. They are looking for someone, but no one has been hired, including Steve Violetta. Take a chill pill people.
-
Just so everyone knows...The pre-game starts at 6:30, which means the game will start around 7:00, not 7:30.
-
I still feel Burke should be on the hook for his entire salary...this is complete bulls***...Kudos to Burke for recognizing this loophole, but it there should be some sort of amendment to prevent something like this happening again.
-
Com on Giguere...You the best goalie in the league!!! /sarcasm

Melrose hit the nail right on the head when he said that. I've walked through Newark and it is an absolute ghetto. The Mayor should take this as a wake up call and realize what a dump of a city Newark is presently, much like the city of Detroit.

Want another good laugh??? Check out ESPN's poll question for the day... "Is Washington's hot start for real?" Umm...what hot start? Their 5-9-1 and last in their division with 11 points. I swear to god, a ******* monkey is running hockey over at ESPN.

Prospect Rankings 1. G Jimmy Howard, Grand Rapids (AHL). It hasn't happened overnight --- Howard was taken in the same draft as Pittsburgh Penguins starter Marc-Andre Fleury --- but he finally appears poised to put it all together. 2. D Jakub Kindl, Grand Rapids (AHL). He's the highest Red Wings draft pick in 15 years, and the organization loves his size and skill. But he's still raw and likely needs at least two AHL seasons before he's ready for NHL duty. 3. F Justin Abdelkader, Michigan State (NCAA). He's developing a reputation as a big-game player and looks like a lock to anchor Detroit's third line for years to come. He's a big, physical puck-chaser who skates extremely well. 4. F Cory Emmerton, Kingston (OHL). Emmerton is a perfect fit for the Red Wings' puck-possession style, a fact that can't be overlooked. His outstanding hockey mind makes him dangerous offensively. He also takes care of his own zone. 5. D Brendan Smith, Wisconsin (NCAA). Fluid and mobile, Smith looks like a future power-play quarterback. If he develops as the Red Wings hope, he could come along at just the right time, with Nicklas Lidstrom aging. Click Here for Rankings 6-20...

LINES FOR TONIGHT Hudler in, Kopecky & Drake out. Per Bruce MacLeod...
-
I don't see why not. Spezza has been out the last 4 games and they have won all of them. I'm not doubting that we could survive without Datsyuk or Zetterberg for 4 days, but we know for sure Ottawa has the depth to do it, do we??? I hope we don't need to find out.

Lose, lose lose, then lose again.

Red Wings Corner Still no word on whether or not Osgood or Hasek will get the start on Wednesday. From an article I read over at MLive yesterday, Babcock sounded like Ozzie would be starting. Now the most interesting part of this article: Zetterberg - Datsyuk - Holmstrom Franzen - Filppula - Samuelsson/Hudler Cleary - Draper - Maltby Drake - Ellis - Downey/Kopecky Lidstrom - Rafalski Lilja - Chelios Kronwall - Lebda Sooo, looks like Babcock isn't too happy with Hudler, even after his solid 3-game road trip.
-
Yea...why the hell would Babcock pick a guy who has twice as many points in 3 fewer games over Hudler...Gee whiz...what is he thinking???
