Eklund doesn't need to worry about losing his credibility or getting sued by anyone by posting a story the minute he hears it. TSN on the other hand has to take the time and actually do research into a story before they post it. That is why Eklund always breaks a story first. He has nothing to lose. Everyone already knows he's a moron...

What browser are you using? Haha, I know that means domain name system but how would I change mine to one of those?

I get more and more excited everytime I look at the roster!!! I think Cleary-Franzen-Drake could be a great tough and physical 4th line that has the ability to score goals as well. Samuelsson can take a seat too, I wanna see Kopecky in the line-up, although that is unlikely to happen... Filppula - Datsyuk - Holmstrom Hudler - Zetterberg - Grigorenko Maltby- Draper - Kopecky Cleary - Franzen - Drake Samuelsson Lidstrom - Lilja Rafalski - Kronwall Lebda - Chelios Quincey Hasek Osgood

Drake Siginng Probably Won't be The Last
WhiteLightning91 replied to WingedWheels's topic in General
Marleau is going to be a UFA after this season. He is going to be a hot commidity next off-season and teams are going to pony up top dollar for him. The Red Wings will not be in a position to offer Marleau the $7M+ he will get in the FA market. Just wondering what you think SJ would even take from us for Marleau? -
He officially retired last year. He is not coming back. (Thank God )

I like the signing. Always hated playing against Drake ever since he was traded, which means he was doing something right. Although, I really wanted to see Hudler/Kopecky get a shot this year. Oh well, we always lose someone to injury. Filppula (733,333K) - Datsyuk (6.7) - Grigorenko (858,800K) Hudler (1.015) - Zetterberg (2.65) - Holmstrom (2.25) Maltby (883,333K) - Draper (2.128) - Cleary ( 662,500K) Samuelsson (1.2) - Franzen (941,667K) - Drake (550K) Kopecky (500K) I like it

Wasn't that Dan Cleary?

Really? Gone from last year's roster are Lang, Bertuzzi, Schneider, Calder, Markov, and Williams. Thats 52 goals from last year that we do not have this year. Thats brings last years total goals scored to a whopping 200. That ranks us 27th in scoring in the league, right ahead of such powerhouses as Columbus, Chicago, and Edmonton. Bring in Raflaski to the mix and that puts us up to 208. Woo Hoo! We're now 25th in the league! Now, am I glad that those players are gone? For the most part, yes I am. I wish Bertuzzi and Markov would be back, but they want too much money so Kenny made the right decision in letting them go. But to say we have scoring is a load of crap. Yes the young guys will improve from last season, but Kenny still needs to bring in some forwards who can help offset that goal loss from last season to this season.

Seeing as how Abdelkader is a defensive/checking line forward and we need more scoring, they have a right to complain... Paul Statsny and Guillaume Latendresse were still available. They were both NHL ready last season and Statsny had a shot at the Calder, while Latendresse is showing signs of becoming a premier power forward. I just don't think that Abdelkader is what we're in need of right now, or when he was drafted...

Red Wing fans haven't had to wait for anything for about 15 years. People aren't use to it. But all this bitching shows that we have some of the most passionate fans of any sport.
-
Of course Holland knows we need another forward. Its just about whether or not the guys who are available right now are worth it or we should wait until the deadline next year. Us fans only know of about 50% of the guys who are truly available. The other half is always there though. Take a look at Kyle Calder. I don't remember anyone mentioning his name as being available at last years deadline. That is the type of trade/signing I expect Holland to make.

It won't be 4 first round picks because we do not have enough cap room to offer that much $$$. The compensation you recieve is based on how much the offer is. It would likely be 2 first rounders, a second, and a third. Pretty steep price still...
-
No way we get Penner. Burke is not going to let one of the premier power forwards in the game get away, especially to the Red Wings...The only way I see us gaining a forward is through a trade. We could debate the trade for days...

Looks like he won't be arriving until Mid-August "Forward Igor Grigorenko will not participate in the current Wings' strength and conditioning camp for prospects. Immigration problems and a contractual problem with his Russian Elite League team will keep Grigorenko in Russia. Holland said Grigorenko will arrive in Detroit in mid-August." - Detroit News

That's just coincidence. If that was the case, how do you explain them taking Cherepanov over Esposito?

I love periods...

One-Year deal, huh? Must be in search for a pay-day next off-season.

Langfeld is a UFA...Probably not going to be re-signed.

Brian Burke is a genius.

The NYR have plenty of cap left to sign Shanahan. It is very easy to sign a player who is over 35 when they are willing to keep signing 1 year deals for low base salaries and then have them loaded with bonuses. Hypothetically, Shanahan could sign a $2M deal for next season with NY and then get another $2M bonus for something as stupid as being on the teams roster for the first month of the season. It's completely legal and allows teams to spend over the cap. SHANAHAN IS NOT COMING BACK YOU MORONS!!!
-
Because he was traded to Nashville at the deadline... But he didn't play in the playoffs for them either so your question is still legit...
-
The NYR pretty much proved anything is possible son...I'm sure the Avs aren't too worried about having to sign Statsny and Wolski. Now, signing Statsny, Wolski, AND Svatos could be challenging, especially if Budaj ends up becoming a top No. 1 netminder in the league. But Sakic will be done by then and Theodore will be definitely off the books. Thats almost $13M freed up right there. Avs are fine. Are they are Cup contender? Probably not. But they are not going to be in Salary Cap Hell.

Well by golly, we may just have the next Gretzky on our hands
