The Wings COULD be after me, but they aren't...
-
If we can replace him with Rafalski, I say good riddance Schneider. Rafalski is 5 years younger and won't cost us any more than Schneider would've at 38.
-
I believe that is called Lightning Syndrome...
-
I say goo job Holland. That is too much money for us to spend on Schneider. We can't afford that and it would've come back to bite us in the ass.

There is no way we get Smyth. I would be absolutely shocked. I still remember when these so called experts also said we were going to get Khabibulin/Thornton/Luongo. I have been fooled too many times to believe any rumours or hockey experts say...

Is anyone worried that we have not signed any of the 4 ufa yet?

I'm more curious as to why we have not heard absolutely anything on Hudler. Granted he is only a RFA, but surely we should've heard something regarding his status as a Red Wing. I want to make sure Hudler, Kopecky, and Filppula stay here a long time. -
Oh boy... Take cover man...

2 Reasons: Smyth = More Money/Less risk Bertuzzi - Less Money/More Risk (Bart Simpson Voice) You're damned if you do and you're damned if you don't... Kronwall's salary is a risky situation. He is paid on potential and skill that he has not proved he will/can attain. On one hand, if he reaches his full potential next season, stays healthy all year, and plays up to the level he has been expected, it doesn't seem like such a bad deal and Kenny H looks like a genius. Then again, if he has another injury-plagued season or plays flat-out average, Holland & Co. look like they've been spending too much time with Miss Mary Jane... -

Toronto: Toskala/Bell San Jose: 1st/2nd Rounders in 2007 & 4th Rounder in 2009 I guess this means CuJo will not be seen in the blue and white again...I think the Sharks really got a good deal here. Toskala was not going to happen in SJ and Bell was a huge disappointment there. Oh boy... SO EXCITED FOR MORE TRADES!!!

I'm pretty sure Datsyuk didn't back down from anyone this year. He went into the corners, went to the net, and actually took a lot of hits in order to make plays. Kariya did nothing of that nature against SJ this year. Gotta give it your all for 3 rounds if you plan on making it to the SCF. I don't think Kariya got that memo this year.
-
Brandon Sutter/Colton Gillies/Tommy Cross
-
I think it's pretty safe to say Giguere led that team to the SCF. And when did I ever question his heart or talent? The argument was based on his toughness and ability to stand up to bigger, grittier teams. Lets face it, little Paulie would've ran into the dressing room during the final minutes of game 5 in the Calgary series with his tail between his legs...
-
I'm pretty sure those players showed the ability to play gritty and stand up to 3 of the toughest teams in the league this year. Kariya...not a chance.

Kariya = *****

So what does that spell R-E-T-I-R-E-M-E-N-T for The Eagle?

Ya know what, I am so tired of hearing that. That was a hell of a lot easier to do when we could buy any FA we wanted and just let those later round draft picks develop to their full potential for years in the minors or over in Europe. But now with the salary cap and the new rules about the rights on prospects, we can't do that anymore. We need as many early round picks as possible. Most of that "unseen" talent was not chosen because other teams were stupid and thought the Zetterbergs and Datsyuks sucked, its because it was harder and more risky to draft Euro's because of the chance they may never come over to NA and play. The Red Wings had the talent already on the roster to take their chances on Euro's and see if they panned out. And frankly, more times than not, it hasn't worked for us. Sure we have found some real gems, but lately not so much. Bottom line, KEEP THE FIRST ROUNDER KENNY!

Oh s***...Call the fire department...

GM's are trying to find any advantage at all in the salary cap era. Trying to think outside the box and be the first ones to get to the guys they want on their team. I think this kind of movement will become more common practice in the future.
-
Ha. Anaheim wins the Cup and Burke is still genius enough to get them the 2nd highest pick of any team that made it into the playoffs. Thats a hell of a job he's doing there in Anaheim.

Sharks deal Toskala/Bell to Maple Leafs
WhiteLightning91 replied to WhiteLightning91's topic in General
Tuukka Rask is who they gave up. He was a former 1st round pick and is projected to be a No. 1 goalie but the elafs couldn't wait for him to develop. They had to get a starting goalie and that was the Bruins asking price. So much for JFJ's motto of not trading the future for immediate help... -

I think the Sharks are clearing cap room. Drury to SJ may not just be another one of Eklunds rumours. This trade makes me believe there may be something to that rumour. -

Its over on TSN's homepage...Sorry -
Off-Season Game Plan Pretty good outline of what the offseason holds for our team. I think theya re right on the money when they say we should be looking for 2 top-six forwards and 1 top four defenseman. My only beef with them is that they believe our trade assets are Hudler, Lilja, and prospects. Any opinions?
