OFFICIAL Lets Go Oilers Thread of 3/27

Wow...If Timonen's injury is anything more than day-to-day, Nashville is gonna have to call up the entire farm squad. These guys cant catch a break when it comes to injuries. Hartnell Erat Nichol Sullivan Timonen I'm curious to learn if the "upper body" injury is connected to the "upper body" injury Kimmo suffered at the end of February.

Thanks for reminding me...End of the day and I must of had a case of the brainfarts there for a moment. Oh well...what could have been... Guess we will have to wait to take him out when it really matter, in the playoffs!

OFFICIAL Lets Go Oilers Thread of 3/27

I'm pretty sure Edmonton just won last week over Colorado, if I'm not mistaken... Anyway, yeah, hopefully Edmonton can atleast put up some sort of a fight and Torres takes a nice shot at Tootoo. Then again, I want to make sure Tootoo plays Thursday against Bertuzzi...

    Playoff Tickets

Probably will find out more when they clinch a playoff birth. Kinda gotta wait for that to happen, which should be hopefully in the near future...We have had 3 games now to clinch and keep blowing it so don't get too ansy yet...

    Kopecky signs 2-year, $900K extension

He played in only a handful of games for us a couple seasons ago but never materialized in our system. He was later picked up by Boston and nothing worked out there really...Last I read he was playing over in Germany somewhere. Doesn't look like he is going to be coming back to bite us in the ass...

    Kopecky signs 2-year, $900K extension

 My future favorite player on the team if he brings that scoring touch and physical aspect to his game to the NHL level. It was really nice to see him play in GR last year and he really made me think we actually had a legit physical presence in our system that also had a great shot.

Tomas Fleischmann has 2 goals right now

HELL NO!!! Here is are your choices... Rex, who contributes nicely with limited minutes, or Fleishmann, who has barely cracked the line-up on the damn Washington Capitals?

Draft Pick that Vancouver owes us for MacIntyre

Anson Carter was had for a 5th. How the hell are we going to get anything close to that for a goalie that is never going to be anything on a team that has Luongo in net for the next 10 years...?

    Martin Brodeur Vs. Patrick Roy

I'm watching the New Jersey vs. Carolina game tonight and am still amazed everytime I watch Brodeur play. The guy is phenomenal. Since you can't really compare people from different era's, I thought it would make sense just to take the best two goalies from this era. Brodeur's Stats: Games Played - 879 Wins - 487 Losses - 258 Ties - 119 GAA - 2.20 SV % - 0.913 Shut Outs - 92 Roy's Stats: Games Played - 1029 Wins - 551 Losses - 315 Ties - 131 GAA - 2.54 SV % - 0.910 Shut Outs - 66 Brodeur's Stats Adjusted To Amount of Games Roy Has Played:: Games Played - 1029 Wins - 570 Losses - 369 Ties - 119 GAA - 2.22 SV % - .913 Shut Outs - 108 All Avalanche bashing aside, Brodeur to me is better. I didn't like playing Roy, but he never scared me the way Brodeur does. Brodeur is just a complete beast when it comes to playing goal. He is always ready to go, never quits, bounces back from a bad goal/game better than any goalie I've ever seen, and has pcuk handling skills that can be matched by no one. Your thoughts?

    ESPN insider

Interesting that Greenstein is still trying to get $7M for Datsyuk since $5.5M is pretty much the most we could afford to pay him...

    NHL Will Expand to Vegas

NO MORE TEAMS!!!!!!!!!!!! GET SOME OF THIS MEDIOCRE TALENT OUT OF THE LEAGUE BY CONTRACTING TEAMS. NOT BY ADDING MORE WATERED DOWN CRAP TALENT!!!

    Martin Brodeur Vs. Patrick Roy

Wasn't Brodeur just the last one to touch the puck on his second goal making him the default goal scorer?

    Your East/West Line-ups

I can't think of anyone else in the East who has more chemistry than Malkin with Crosby. That's why I put him there. And he has played the wing position both in Pittsburgh and in the RSL numberous times throughout his career so it shouldn't be something that would be all that difficult for him.

    Demise of the Original Six

Maybe Illitch could buy the rest of the original 6 teams and that would take care of all these problems!!! No? Oh, ok. I guess John Ferguson and Bill Wirtz are kinda the same thing...

    Hudler praise

There's no point in Babcock wasting his breath trying to make Sammy and Lilja better players...It will accomplish nothing...

    Martin Brodeur Vs. Patrick Roy

I'm sure at some point both of the goalies were pulled in a game, were on the scoresheet for each stat, but the win/loss/tie was given to the goaltender in relief for them...that's all I can think of. If that's not it, you're gonna have to take that up with TSN.ca That's where I got those statistics from.

    Wings to focus on Datsyuk

Not sure I understand what you are saying about Zetterberg. Hudler is an RFA after this season and will get a raise to about what Cleary is making. Grigorenko will make about $900K I think since he is making $1M tax-free in Russia. I do not think we can afford to sign Datsyuk for more than $5.5M and still keep the team competitive. Datsyuk - $5.5M Lang - $4M Zetterberg - $2.7M Draper - $2.128M Holmstrom - $2.25M Maltby - $1.25M Samuelsson - $1.2M Bertuzzi - $4.5M Franzen - $942K Filppula - $733K Cleary - $663K Calder - $2.3M Hudler - $750K Kopecky - $525K Grigorenko - $900K Lidstrom - $7.6M Schneider - $3M Markov - $2.5M Lilja - $1M Kronwall - $3M Chelios - $850K Lebda - $650K Osgood - $850K Total = $49.791 Its not possible to pay Datsyuk more than that. That's close to the cap and we still don't have a goalie, since Hasek will want to retire on top I believe and lightning doesn't strike the same place twice so I do not know if I wanna gamble with his groin again next season. Of course some players will not be back and others will join but this is purely just based on the current team adn what I feel it will take to keep the same players around. OK. I gotcha. I see what you're saying now. That would definitely be the safest thing to do and would make Holland look like a genious if we got something good in return. Too bad the draft is held before July 1st so draft picks wouldn't really work out. But if we got a roster playing return it would be a great move.

    Wings to focus on Datsyuk

Care to enlighten us all about how you trade an UFA? You get my pick as #1 GM in the league if you can solve that puzzle!

    Martin Brodeur Vs. Patrick Roy

Brodeur is on pace to face the most shots he has in his career this season and is still going to break the record for SO's. Explain that one...
