I disagree completely. I've been watching hockey for over 20 years and can say, without a doubt, playoff OT generally does not last past the first 5 mins. This is something I remember being said to be an ol' cliche in the early to mid 90's even. It makes sense though. There's so much to gain at the same time that there is so much to lose. W/o the shootout in the playoffs (which is exactly how I feel it should be) teams begin to play much more aggressively for that extra inch/win. If playoff hockey OT was how teams played during the regular season, there would be no reason for shootouts...

Keep in mind, Dallas has had ownership and financial inssues for the past few seasons. It's not completely out of the realm of possibility that they traded Neal simply because they knew they couldn't offer him a contract anywhere close to what he got with PIT this season. Might as well have received something for him.

Doubtful, they will place Pronger on LTIR just like they did Hatcher, Rathje, Betts, and Lappy. It's a loophole the flyers have notoriously taken advantage of several times. Pronger will still get his money, but salaray cap wise, Flyers will do themselves no harm. Interesting to see how the next CBA closes, if at all, that loophole.

Finishing out the month with 10 games in 18 days, with 7 of them on the road could have something to do with it.

That affiliate listing on the Red Wings website isn't completely correct. It has no listing for Marquette, but I get the games on 97.1 FM. May just have to search for it.

Over on the NHL Network today they were playing the 1997 SCF. At one point during the show Dan Pollard, the host, was talking about the 1955 Red Wings' team and mentioned that Howe and Lindsay no longer speak to each other. I was unaware of this and couldn't find any info about what happened. Can someone fill me in?? EDIT: Nevermind, this article explains what happened. For anyone interested... I always knew that Lindsay was in hot water with the elague over the whole NHLPA idea but didn't realize that was why him and Howe do not speak anymore. Gotta give him a HUGE amount of credit for the hard work and dedication he put into building the Union though. Helluva a guy. Anyone know if this rift has continued to this day?

That argument is irrelevant. If they can decide which games to play on NBC a few weeks in advance, they should do the same with Versus.

If the NHL can have a flex schedule with a main network like NBC, I refuse to believe they couldn't do the same with a ghost station like Versus. They are in fact both owned by Comcast. It is very frustrating to see Pit/NJ being broadcasted when much more impactful games are taking place. And to the poster who said this game does have implications, please, that's a stretch. Sure it does. But not nearly to the degree of some of the other games. It's a moot point in comparison.
