How many packages of gum does Babcock go through in a game?
WhiteLightning91 replied to RedWingsRox's topic in General
Instead of gum, he should just pack a nice four finger of Copenhagen downstairs bottom-left since he is that badass. -
Franzen - Datsyuk - Bertuzzi Cleary - Zetterberg - Holmstrom Miller - Filppula - Williams Draper - Helm - Eaves (Meech) Lidstrom - Rafalski Kronwall - Stuart Lilja - Ericsson (Lebda/Meech) Howard Osgood We better not lose anyone. Our depth is severely lacking. Hopefully these injuries are behind us. (Knock on wood)

Today is going to be the BEST hockey day in a long, long time!

Marquette, MI? A fellow Wildcat?? -
I'm pretty sure Patty Eaves isnt on LTIR so you gotta add his $500K as well to the original post. That puts us around $700K over the cap. Moving Lebda and his $650K salary still doesn't solve anything. One more player would have to hit the road. Of course, if Maltby elects to have surgery on his shoulder, everything is taken care of, and Lebda would be in the pressbox.

Can somebody fill me in with the line combinations from the Nashville game? -
http://www.fromtherink.com/2009/11/20/1166...n-games-lost-to James Mirtle posted tha tarticle on the site From the Rink about a month ago. Obviously it's not completely up to date but from the day it was posted you can get a pretty good idea who's been FUBAR'd with all these injuries.

And the award for most ill-informed post ever goes to...

Wings sign Patrick Eaves to 1-year/$500k deal
WhiteLightning91 replied to hockey23's topic in General
Lines in Babcock's mind... Datsyuk - Z - Holmstrom Franzen - Filppula - Cleary Leino - Helm - Eaves UFA - Draper - Maltby Lidstrom - Rafalski Kronwall - Stuart Ericsson - Lebda I just hope to God that Homer is able to put in a halfway decent season and able to stay healthy for 65+ games. He probably should be on the third line with most of his minutes coming from the #1 PP unit. I don't think he can keep up with Datsyuk and Z for another season. -
So let me get this straight: Our two biggest weaknesses last year were PK and defense. How on Earth would Sykora and Williams help in either case? I realize we lost offense with the departures of Hossa, Sammy, and Hudler. But I'm not concerned about scoring goals with our depth. I'm concerned with our bottom 6 being defensively responsible this year, as opposed to last year, and our PK being back to where it was consistently one of the best in the league.

Morris is 30 years old. He's not exactly a young fella.

www.capgeek.com That site is better and is updated more frequently than nhlnumbers or nhlscap.

What's with TO = Toronto? Is it just the first two letters of the word TOronto?
-
Why does everyone refer to Toronto as TO?

People are forgetting that Filppula was not given that contract by an arbitrator. It never went to the courts. That deal was signed before their scheduled hearing.

GM: Wings did shopping during season......
WhiteLightning91 replied to HudlerFanatic's topic in General
I still cannot believe they have not received any indication of Hossa's plans. Why doesn't he atleast let them know whether or not he is planning on making his decision after seeing what kind of offers are going to be out there July 1st? -
I remember the same thing being said last year, and what happened? We lost a solid Dman in Quincey for nothing. I dont see why they think this time will be any different. You can't wait till everyone knows you absolutely have to move someone to fit under the cap.
-
Wow. Get a sense of humor will ya... If you wanna be mad at someone that millions of people in this state have lost their jobs, look at the millions of people who were getting paid wayyy too much for doing nothing as well as their big wig bosses who have been mismanaging the Big Three's money for years. It's a picture, get over it.

*DISCLAIMER* You cannot reopen/restructure/renegotiate contracts!!! Once a contract is signed, and approved by the league it cannot be renegotiated.

...I didnt see the VS feed so I can't say whether or not they did in fact replay it, but that wasn't the point of my reply anyway smartass. My point was that they very infrequently replay penalties that are called. I guarantee I am not in the minority when it comes to this issue either.
-
Ever since VS has been carrying games I have noticed and become highly frustrated with the fact that they very infrequently show replays of penalties. I don't wanna jump to any conspiracy thepories regarding why that is but it sure is interesting.

Seabrook and Keith are two very good defenseman. Add in Campbell, Barker, and Hjarlmarsson and you have a very solid top 5 defense. When combined they have size, strength, puck control, ability to forecheck aggressively, get shots from the point, and keep guys clear from crease. They have been jus as good these playoffs defensively as Anaheim was; it's just Khabibulin hasn't been as clutch as Hiller was.

Outside of Chelios, Maltby is the only one on the team with a minus rating for the playoffs. HE was also -9 in the regular season. How is that "defensively responsible"? I'm not saying Leino should be brought up for Maltby, but he isn't exactly fulfilling his role on this team as a grinder and aggressive checker while playing smart defense.
