Ya, which is why I don't think we really need one. Datsyuk and Zetterberg have shown that they can handle the rough stuff since they have gotten older and if need be, we do have guys that are willing to drop the gloves.

This has been the case for this organization a lot over the last decade and I used to hate it. The fact is though that the skilled players on this team have gotten a lot tougher/more experienced and don't need as much "protection" as they did previously.

If this causes Philly to make some moves, I think that there are a few players we could look at. Personally, I would love to have a guy like Matt Carle on the Wings.

I don't really understand rule 48. I mean to me these are the hits that are dangerous, it is clearly from Horton's "blindside" and caused an injury. Is this not what the rule was put in place to prevent? I agree with a lot of you saying that it really wasn't that bad of a hit but to me these are the types of hits that the NHL is trying to get rid of to protect the players.

I don't understand the love-fest with Richards (well ok I do, high level players always generate interest), signing him does not address any of our current issues. We have good first and second line players, we need a faster D corps and a solid Dman to replace Rafalski and the soon to be gone Lidstrom *shutter*

It always amazes me when I read threads like these how some people think we can just ****** up any FA that we want as if the player has no other options out there. I mean really.... Richards and Weber???? First of all, I think that B. Richards is a horrible fit with this current team (no doubt he is a good player) and will be way over priced for a second line player. Also, there is no way we get Weber... lol

Pitkanen is awesome offensively so he would fill the gap of Rafalski nicely IMO. Is that the reason some of you are looking at him? He also seems to have decent speed which is something that I have grown more and more concerned about the speed on the back end.

Ya, just starting putting guys that came up off the top of my head. Clearly there are a few on there that don't belong. Had a debate with a non-Wings fan as who was MVP so that's why I came up with some of those choices.
