Both had one solid game and one terrible game. After the 4 games they both need to pick it up, there is no question about that.

I definitely do not find it boring, but there are a few things that come to mind when I am bored with the Wings. If he likes of Dats, Z, Hossa aren't working their magic or the rest of the team with their passing ability to set up plays this team is VERY BORING to watch. If they aren't on their game, they don't hit much (more than a few years ago at least), no fights at all and Osgood isn't the flashy goalie that is making highlight of the night style saves.
-
Wasn't it just last week when Osgood got promoted back into the NHL that Babcock said that the 2 would be splitting the games from here on out? Sounds to me like he is using this last month to see who he is going to start in the playoffs.

Spezza should've got an extra 2 minutes for unsportsmanlike.
-
I don't, I'm pretty sure goalies have lost their starting roles during the regular season as well.
-
Montreal still scares me, they have severely under performed this year and if they get their s*** together can be a legitimate team in the East.

Phoenix Coyotes -- Worst organization in sports

Wow, very odd timing indeed.

Wow, boycotting CBS may be going a tad bit overboard.

That is a fun fact. I agree that he is not as talented as 30 other members in the Wings organization but there are other things certain players bring. Steve Yzerman was no where near the talent that Mario and Gretz had but that guy brought a lot more to the table than just his pure talent.

Would the Wings be better off had they Pursued Goalie Instead of Hossa

I think that Conklin is still not getting enough respect after his terrible play in Edmonton. He played well when MAF went down last year and they needed him to be #1 and he has definitely been the best Wings goalie this year. -

You know, this wouldn't be a bad idea at all.... right now the Wings are the best offensive team in the league, did we really need to add Hossa? No, we were very strong in that department before. Does a GM turn away from signing a player like Hossa at the price we got him? No. However, heading into this season if a person were to look at the Wings and point out a flaw it would've definitely been goaltending. We had the lowest shots against and goals against and that was attributed to the great defense we had last season. Hasek and Osgood were a very good tandem last and were there when need by (which wasn't very often). This season we are sitting guys like Helm and Leino who would be LOVED on probably all 29 of the other teams, so I definitely think we could've made a push for a solid goalie with the depth we had up front. Conklin was a good signing and I think we should ride him for the rest of the year but the guy has never been the number one guy except by default. He has definitely improved since Edmonton but it's a little unnerving going into the playoffs with such an untested goalie. -
I think that there are guys like Downey bring intangibles to the team. I know one game isn't a very good sample size, but the game against the Blues the Wings looked motivated and played really well. I'd be interested to see the Wings record with Downey and without him in the lineup.

Babcock Begins To Reveal Playoff Lines
Never_Retire_Steve replied to detroitsportsman05's topic in General
Looks like the lineup is leaning towards.... ZDH Franzen - Flip - Hossa Cleary - Draper - Maltby Hudler - Kopecky - Sammy Which means no Leino and Hudler on the fourth line.... wow this team's depth is sick. -
I think this was a good decision so far as we look at the past few games. Hopefully Ozzie continues to build on his first SO of the season.
-
ZDH Hudler - Leino - Hossa Sammy - Flip - Franzen Cleary - Draper - Helm Downey, Kopecky, Maltby Lids - Rafalski Kronwall - Stuart Lilja - Ericsson Chelios, Lebda Conklin Osgood
-
I love Downey, we always seem to do well with him in the lineup.

Hossa is on pace for a career high in goals

Looking at this thread now kinda depresses me but I think the guy will still get over 40 goals by season's end -
Can someone tell me how playoff rosters work? I know that they have to be finalized before a certain date and expand to x number of players but does anyone know the exact details? I would really love to Leino in April.
-
I'm not a superstitious person at all but think of the teams that played overseas this year.... All 4 have lost their coach that they started with and are SEVERELY underachieving this year. I don't think that there is one team that is even remotely close to being in the situation that they want to be in.

WTF Capitals' celebrations vs. Canes tonight
Never_Retire_Steve replied to shadow47's topic in General
I don't understand this thread at all. Why are so many people on here praising the Caps and saying take that Cherry when they lost the game???? Isn't this exactly what Cherry is getting at. Does anyone argue that Washington has the best talent on their team with guys like Ovie, Semin, Green, Backstrom, etc. but until they care more about winning games and scoring goals what really matters? Cherry mentioned guys like Yzerman, Orr, etc. because they were true class and champions. When they actually win a playoff round then they can showboat all they want because they can back it up. Until then, if this happened with the Wings I would be extremely pissed off if guys like Dats & Z did this. -
Sooooooooo happy that Detroit kept this team untouched. Loved it.
