Oh I would also like to nominate the Philly announcers as the most biased out there. I remember a few years back when Havlat caused all those brawls between the two teams when they played back to back and my god you should've heard them, actually maybe I'll fetch the video link for it......

I think it's funny. Steve Yzerman is my hero and I still LMAO when I see Clinton introducing them as the Stanley Cup champs.
-
LOL, I'm sure that would be a first in the hockey world
-
Just reading the responses of this thread make me sad at how poor the all-star game is viewed and how mad I am at the NHL brass and how they run the league. /mini rant
-
Agreed, I have also noticed the amount of backups that are able to fill in quite nicely if needed. Fernandez, Clemmenson, Sanford, Conklin, Mason, Halak. Goaltenders have become so good now that every off night is magnified tenfold (please view hundreds of LGW threads about every goalie we have had in the past 10 years)
-
Awesome, I'm just glad that you don't take a shot of Tequila for everytime he misses the net or gets a shot blocked otherwise you may be dead.
-
I like these threads, I thought we did one a while ago. Mine are only for playoffs but I always go out and get absolutely hammered with a fellow Red Wings fan and always have to wear specific Red Wings gear.
-
I agree, Thornton, Datsyuk and Savard are the most overlooked superstars in the NHL over the past few years.
-
I know what I would be doing.....
-
Where and how do you guys keep finding these sites? It definitely seems like something I want to do if any of them have Yzerman jerseys.
-
I realize what you're saying but Backstrom has only been in the league that long, don't you think it's a tad bit premature to be saying that about Backstrom? Please refer to Jim Carrey mid 1990's
-
LOL, that's pretty funny
-
The one guy who truly amazes me on that team is Joe Thornton. How about those two passes? WOW! Has anybody else noticed the difference in production his linemates get? Murray? Cheechoo? Setoguchi? And then when they don't play with him their numbers magically fall off?

Sorry, I should've elaborated on this.... I just get so pissed off whenever the league fails to market itself properly. There is such a great product that they have no clue how to market. The All-Star game is the perfect example of this... the game is missing about 35% of the players who SHOULD be in this game and consequently are missing out on a lot of the skills competition as well. It's not very hard to look around at the other sports and see how much they do. Look at the hype that is created by the Slam Dunk contest and baseball's All-Star game, people look forward to these events because they showcase the stars and their talents. The NHL All-Star game is a glorified shinny game that the league seems to make less and less interesting every year. Please do not insult my reading comprehension, it is firmly at a grade 9 level.

I'm not saying that either are remotely close to Brodeur career wise, however, the last two years Luongo certainly has and the couple years before that so was Kipper. Luongo has also had the luxury on being on the Panthers to start his career where he would typically be facing more than 40 shots every game. You are right, no one is in Brodeur's class in their career, I was comparing them year by year. OK, I guess it's semantics then but I mean you're really putting on a thin veil by saying that Backstrom has been elite in his career this early, especially when you can say that Kiprusoff has had as many good years as Backstrom.
-
Wow, I think skacore gets post of the year and this should be stickied for every rehashed goalie thread and ________ is lazy and sucks or ____ should be traded for ______ threads. Great stuff
-
What a ******* joke this league is, I swear monkeys can do a better job than the clowns who are running the show now.
-
Eva are you serious about Backstrom??? I will agree about Kipper though, however, he had more than 1 good year, he had two really good years where he was definitely in the class of Luongo and Brodeur. Those two are definitely the cream of the crop.

All-Star break is coming at the perfect time

They're also human beings, emotions can affect even the most even-tempered person. Just ask yourself these questions: Have you ever seen a player get angry and take a bad penalty? Have you ever seen a team play with more intensity after a big save or a fight?
-
LOL at another goalie thread....... we should have had a thread stickied for the last 6 years on LGW saying "OUR GOALIES SUCK"
-
I saw the replay and it looks like Boston got screwed, what was the initial call? Goal?
-
Glad to see someone agrees with me
-
I just want to say to those of you that believe that players don't play differently in front of different goalies, I think you are wrong.
-
I agree, when you look at the rule changes in the past ten years, most if not all have been designed to increase scoring.
