A lot of people will watch local news/highlights that would've shown the comments Avery made. Casual hockey fans would say to themselves, wow, I want to see this game now. I know I did when I first heard the comments. In this case, this is good publicity for the league because it is getting more viewers. For the record the Bertuzzi/Mcsorley incidents are 10000000X times worse than what Avery did and they are getting similar media attention which is bulls***.

Clearly, the players have been embarrassed about his continued circus of antics. I would like to think that he wouldn't have gotten 6 games if this was his first controversial comment. Do you think that promoting violence is smearing the game or his organization? The way I look at it is look at the NBA. The most embarrassing thing that happened in recent years was the Pistons-Pacers brawl and not Shaq rapping about Kobe. It seems to me that the NHL takes the opposite stance.

Who's going to take him at $4M/year? I agree, it's really f***ed up that comments about sexuality rank way worse than promoting violence or even acting violently. It's the same thing when I watch prime time TV, you can show someone getting killed but god forbid there is ever nudity.

I think a lot of us agree that it is a little strange that the ZDH line got broken up with how well it did last year. If we kept that line together I think a good second line would be Hudler-Franzen-Hossa. It's just sick with our front 14 the good line combinations that we can come up with.

Sean Avery, did anyone hear his thoughts when he was traded to LA?

I gotta say that I used to love Datsyuk when he came into the league and scored all those nice goals. This quickly turned to demands that he get traded because of his huge price tag and lack of productivity in the post-season. I would've never dreamed that he would turn out to be the two-way player that he is today. Especially the physical side of things.

Easily Zetterberg because he has played for my favorite team for 6 years already and has a hot fiance.

I think that we should lean towards doing nothing this year in terms of our roster and agree that we should probably calm down. However, after 15 years of being the best or near the best of the league, fans need something to ***** about it seems. Goalie debates, lack of grit, players who are lazy and suck (or useless), etc. But if given the opportunity to hand pick any goalie over our current tandem, I think there would be about 20 teams out there that I would make a trade with.

Garon's upside is way bigger than Roloson's, what has Rollie ever done in his career other than one cup run? Garon is more talented than Roloson and has way more upside. Not saying I would necessarily make the trade either, but if there was one available that would be the trade I make.

I think a trade would be good with Edmonton, except no way would I take Roloson (Garon or DesLauriers on the other hand I would take in second)

Definately jealous of both you guys. I have always heard that one of the best guys off the ice is DMac. Both Don Cherry and Ray Scampinella have both said that he stands out in terms of class and would definitely be the current Wing that I would like to meet.

A lot of people come on here saying that they hate the goalie threads....... fine, I can definitely see that and wouldn't like it if someone was bashing my favorite player either. Having said that, for all these people on their soap boxes telling people that these types of threads shouldn't exist should make sure that they aren't being hypocrites. I say this because I see a lot of these same posters saying things like Turco in Dallas is playing terrible and shouldn't use Sean Avery as a scapegoat for his poor play. Well, I gotta say that if you are going to say that then don't use the Wings defensemen for Osgood's poor play. The fact of the matter is that saying Osgood is playing good right now is an insult to him. It's basically saying that he is expected to mediocre.
