Statistically, it is much harder to repeat in a league with 30 teams than it is with 6 so that definately has to be taken into consideration. Also, this salary cap will affect things from here on out as well. Having said that, I can't remember a Red Wings team I was so confident in repeating as Cup champs. I mean Detroit has to be HEAVY favorites this year. In 99 I thought we would pull off the trifecta but alas it was not to be and I think that was more due to us winning the past two cups in 8 combined games.

Just about to post this exact thing. Awesome bargaining by Holland, to say "Hey listen, we're the best, you need us more than we need you" in other words. I am very happy with the off-season. I wanted us to sign a goaltender so that we could keep the 2 headed monster that we had in Osgood and Hasek. Hossa was just unreal shocking.

Pittsburgh nearly scoring with 1 second left and Osgood's stretched out body and the puck going across the goal face as time expires and we officially win the cup. What a moment

CBC......... gotta say that after all the s*** that was talked about him being a cancer, there was nothing said about him this year and he seemed to support Ozzie in goal, even though I wanted Dom to start all year, Osgood played out of his mind in the playoffs and we owe this entire year to our 2 goalies who stepped in all year for each other to guide us to the cup. f*** THE OSGOOD VS.
