Tarasenko re-signs with the Blues (60 mill/8 years)
Never_Retire_Steve replied to frankgrimes's topic in General
At first I thought that comparing Tarasenko to Datsyuk was ludicrous but then I looked at their careers and I don't think it's really that much of a stretch. Tarasenko is a unique player with a very, very high ceiling. He is young, talented and there is nothing to suggest that he is a liability in any way. Seems like a great deal to lock up a guy like that. Should be one of the most productive guys in the league for years to come IMO. FWIW, Tarasenko has put up quite a bit more points than Datsyuk does at even strength. Wouldn't be surprised in the slightest to see Tarasenko put up 90 points this season. -
I get people don't like Perry (myself included) but he's a very good hockey player and would definitely make the Red Wings a better team.

So Detroit has the highest quality of players injured this season and third most man games lost. I suppose we can say: At least we're not Pittsburgh as they've had a ridiculous amount of injuries and very high quality players who have also been injured in the past 5 years. Detroit looks to be in the top 10 but could be worse I guess.

Is there anyone that knows where someone can find a comprehensive list of man games lost due to injury? Seems like Detroit has had a ton of injuries over the past few seasons.

Is Dylan Larkin a lock to stay in the NHL beyond 9-games?

This. Would be pissed if they sent him down right now as he is our best player (right now) as a 19 year old. I've heard this story once before... -
I think they are still a good team as we are still under 10 games in to the season. Teams go through phases like this. Certainly the Canadiens are not going to win 90% of their games even though they are a good team they are simply hot right now. Same thing as how Columbus lost 8 of their first games, they might not be a good team but they certainly aren't that bad. I think what you have in Anaheim is some bad luck, bad play and injuries to key guys like Ryan Getzlaf all piling up at once and you get a team that is severely under performing. Boudreau is probably on the hot seat though because team's love to over react and blame things on the coaches even though I think that Boudreau is one of the best coaches in the entire league.

Reporting for duty... -
I say go for it, who can blame teams that don't have the same leadership qualities as teams like the Wings? Who knows, maybe some day a team like Vancouver will name Luongo as their captain... Oh wait.

GDT WCQF Game 1 GDT : Red Wings 1, at Ducks 3. (Anaheim leads, 1-0)

Time for the LNC to reunite vs. Anaheim! -
It's been so long since the summer and acquisitions/trades/retirements have happened that I sometimes forget who's even on the Wings. What do we figure the lines will be with the new additions and losses that we've had over the summer and during the lockout?

Has anyone noticed what they are doing in Sunrise, FL?

I think Florida has a rude awakening of just how good Vokoun was -
Who really cares about people's opinions anyway? If you're a fan of a team it really shouldn't bother you what others think about the fanbase

Still doesn't make it right to rape other little boys -
While there are no doubt great Red Wings fans out there, I think that the author of this article is right (strictly speaking from a Red Wings fan perspective). As a group I think we tend to have some pretty fair-weather fans who only show up in the playoffs and are very ignorant when it comes to hockey in general. When you are a fan of a team like the Red Wings you have to put up with this type of attention because we haven't had a "bad" year in 20+ years and unfortunately you tend to pick up a lot of bandwaggoners and s***ty fans along the way. The Yankees, Steelers and Lakers are the same way and also have many awful fans.

I've liked Ozzie's personality but I don't understand everyone jumping over the media on their opinions on Osgood. After all, that is what they are paid to do is give opinions on these types of events
-
I assume that's what he meant but we are no more set on D then we are at forward unless Holland is actively looking to remove a forward from this lineup. Also, just because we signed guys like Commodore and Exelby certainly doesn't mean that we can't still upgrade.

Ty Conklin baby!

The following would only make too much sense: Vancouver LA Phoenix SJ Anaheim ------------- Edmonton Calgary Colorado Winnipeg Dallas -------------- Minnesota Chicago Nashville St. Louis Columbus ------------- Detroit Toronto Montreal Ottawa Buffalo -------------- Philly NJ Boston NYR NYI -------------- Pittsburgh Washington Carolina Tampa Florida I'd like to see a better map in terms of proximity than this

It's more for family and also having civil liberties like getting to vote and whatnot
-
???? If you mean in terms of roster spots I don't understand how having a forward makes a difference
-
One day I will post my pic on here
-
Oh and please Osgood, you've done enough, call it a career

I definitely do not understand the "I do not want Vokoun" sentiment. All of a sudden we don't want one of the top 5 goaltenders since the lock out?
