Well the other debuts have definitely been interesting.... can't wait for tonight.
-
two threads need to be merged --------- Another first round exit is near --------- will be caused by --------- Stuart won't be physical -----------
-
This thread will definitely have to be revisited in May regardless of what happens.
-
Very interested to see if he can help us end this stupid slump.
-
It's almost as if at the start of the season Paddock signed a contract saying..... "As long as the Sens are first in the East, your job is safe"
-
Anyone hear of what Babcock plans to do with the PP and D pairings since the trade? On here, the consensus seems to be the following: Lids/Raffi Stuart/Kronner Lebda or Lilja/Chelios and having Stuart replace Sammy on the point for the PP
-
Well, I mean it can hurt us if those picks end up being future Datsyuk's or Zetterberg's but I am really comfortable with the fact that we only had to give up a 50th and 100th overall pick for a guy who is a second line D-man. Agreed 100% that it can't hurt us THIS year unless he ends up deciding to randomly deflect shots on our goalies or taking headshots at our forwards while they are standing in front of the net.

Stuart stood out to me when he played in SJ, if he could get back to that form I would be extremely happy.

I think it all depends on how you look at it. On the surface for sure I think we are losers and I don't think anyone can argue that in terms of adding to their team which is what the deadline is for. However, at the end of the year, what team did the best with their final roster in the playoffs and setting their teams up for next year, that is when the success of the trade deadline will be seen and not yesterday.

What's happening with the top teams that used to be so much superior to everyone in the league??? Anyways, never thought Paddock was a good coach but anytime you do this at this point in the year it is a gamble. However, I don't think you can ruin the team chemistry in Ottawa much more than what has been done already so I don't think it's a horrible move (although I'm not sure how good it is either).

I like to use emoticons...........

I think that we have the best D in the league and here's why........ Shots against per game: Detroit ---- 23.9 Anaheim -- 27.6 Goals agaist per game: Detroit ------ 2.15 Anaheim ---- 2.38 Also if we throw in offensive stats in the mix here's what we get: Anaheim 136 points Detroit 165 points I just don't see why some people say that Anaheim's defense is far better when the team stats definitely say the opposite, now I realize stats don't tell the whole story but the fact of the matter is that Detroit dominated all the defensive categories before their current skid and still are first in these last ten games. I think we have a better defense than ANY other team.
-
23 > 6 ........... good trade already
-
Stuart better be physical or else I will be disappointed in the trade
-
OK, quit pointing out D vs. D, it's stupid. The only way you can measure a team's defense is through team stats, it's how they work as a corps not as individuals, all this >/< crap is stupid and irrelevant.
-
To me it's just ludicrous to say that we are poised to have a first round exit at this point in the season...... come back in ten games and then bump this thread and we will have a better idea.
-
This is exactly what I wanted to see happen today.
-
True, but think about how far we were ahead at the time before this debacle of a month happened, I have been worried about the Ducks ever since I heard they got those two back, regardless of what the Wings did, after all they are the defending champs. I honestly don't think Colorado will be a threat unless we are in 2000, the Stars...... meh, ya Richards was dynamite in their Cup but they also gave up some damn good players in return.
-
I think some people are over reacting here, this team was by far the best in the league when it is healthy and when our defense gets rebuilt I don't see why that changes, every team goes through slumps, hopefully getting Stuart will address our banged up D-corps and I believe he will as I think he has a lot of potential for being better than a #4 D-man and I hope we can keep him for next year. I'm glad we didn't do anything to shake up the group of guys we have now.
-
Campbell will do nothing for the Sharks, the West is too good.
-
I don't get why the Blues got another fighter.
-
I think Lapointe will be a good fit in Ottawa.
-
One thing I hope we don't do is go out and get a D-man with all the injury problems we've been having unless it is a depth player, even though we are really banged up right now, the recent slump has definitely not been due to our defensive play IMO. BTW how long is Raffi out for?
-
I will be in enemy territory tonight at the game representing the Wings faithful, kinda sucks that I won't be able to see some of the guys I wanted to see play and wow how about that D line up?!?!?

Favourite to least favourite major hockey nations?

1. Canada --- obv reasons for me 2. Sweden -- stems from all the Wings 3. Finland -- How can you really hate any of these players, at the same time none really exciting 4. Slovakia -- Boring, unskilled 5. Czech Republic -- Love Hasek, Jagr has a lot of skill but it seems to me that a lot of these guys just show up when they want to 6. Russia -- Very dirty at times, lots of individuals that don't play a team game, most exciting to watch but also very hated 7. USA -- Dirtiest games (between Canada), also a lot of very arrogant players. Dislike most USA players, mostly old school (Chelios, Suter, J. Johnson, Roenick, Tkachuk)
