Maybe 3 years of Holland doing s*** to pick up the players I want and having the 3 early playoff exits have caused me to be jaded but I am actually very excited about this trade. It shows me that maybe, just maybe Holland realizes that we're missing something on our roster. Now if we could somehow land a player like Todd Bertuzzi with some speed I'd be absolutely ecstatic.

I for one like this trade and think that Calder can do well if he's in the right environment.

My god, this guy has to stop coming out 50 feet from his net. He scares the s*** out of me whenever he goes on one of his adventures. Watching tonight's game was absolutely awful and caused a landmark win streak to end.

I would tend to agree with this as I remember from olympics and highlights from his Buffalo days as almost being unbeatable on breakaways. Now it seems like he is a sub par goaltender to have in a shootout.

Personally, I wouldn't mind getting one of those two players as they do address a huge hole in our lineup. however it takes more than a single sandbag to stop a flood.

Personally, I would hate to see any Red Wings goalie get into a fight against Dan Cloutier or Ray Emery

Agreed, they have been hurting big time in season tickets (specifically the corporate side of things). There is talk of them moving and we all know that if a team goes deep in the playoffs that there are plenty of fans to jump on the bandwagon.

I'd like to see visors mandatory, then no one can complain about fights or people having an advantage.

Ok, the offseason has just started and things are already rediculous. People on here jumped on me for bashing Holland for not doing anything right after the playoff exit (deservedly so, it was a knee-jerk reaction) but all our options seem to be drying up fast. The team hasn't addressed it's lack of playoff performance nor added any grit, no #1 goalie and now our captain is done! The worst thing is that all of our options seem to be drying up. Our new goalie prospect is Ed Belfour!?!?! I mean come on! Also, the only change so far seems to be Shananhan and Legace, so much for the promised changes.

that has an event such as the World Cup. In all honesty this is one of the greatest sporting spectacles that there is and I am wondering why other sports don't have events like this. I realize that it is the "world sport" but sports such as hockey are really becoming international and every year it seems that the gap is narrowed. I realize that we have Olympic hockey, which some may argue is the same so I don't know if it is beneficial to hold an event like this or not. Then again, soccer has Euro cup.

It's not so much the fact that I want more, it's the fact that I want the quality more. Players don't take the World Championships seriously enough. I think it would be better to not have those and have only the olympics or the old World Cup. Some of the best memories for Canadian hockey is the Summit series hands down. That's the type of stuff that I want to see, an event that brings out the pride of the nations like the World Cup of soccer does. Don't get me wrong the olympics are great but it seems that even those take a back seat for most players since it is played mid way through the series and a lot of players want to win a Stanley Cup way more than an olympic gold medal.

You're dead on when you say that Cleary isn't relied on to score but I would like to see some offensive improvement from this year, is that really all that much to ask for?

I just hope that they can produce a little more offensively than what they did this year.
