Listen here newbie. So what team are you trolling for? Are you a Ducks fan? Pens fan? Sharks fan? Admit it, we won't beat you THAT bad.
-
EXACTLY!! Shooting from the side will result in the same thing. I think you have an idea!! Another idea is to have some kind of chip put in the puck and make the goal posts and crossbar have something like a "metal detector" and that would sync with the horn and goal light and there would be NO question about a goal being scored. Hey, they did FoxTrax!! Another way to increase scoring is to make the goals soccer size....LOL Agreed!!! Or farting on an opposing goalie being interference....LOL

Does that signing count against the cap? Nice story!!

I can understand most of the reason the Wings lost to the Coyotes. They were looking forward to nearly a week off and just wanted the game to end. I understand the refs miss calls and nobody is perfect. But, if they call these STUPID holding and hooking calls (and to an extent interference), how can the NOT call (at least some of these), the crosscheck on Cleary (2 or 3 times in a row), the slash, KICK and trip Bryzgalov did on Homer and even the incident where Stuart was injured could have been interference. How can they NOT call at least 1/2 of them? I mean the reason the league went with 2 refs is to catch everything but you got better results with just the 1 ref. Take a break guys and come out firing on all cylinders!! I forgot to add the hook of Pavs. It looked more like a bodycheck than anything else.
-
I thought the 2 ref system was going to be the best thing since sliced bread when it 1st was announced. But it needs to go. That way with only needing 1/2 the refs, the crappy ones go to the minors while the good ones stay. No more, the ref at center ice called the penalty in the corner, while the one in the corner called nothing. Sometimes it is the right call (the hit on Pavs the other night), but most of the time, it is horses***. I bet if Homer farted on Bryzgalov he would have gotten a 5 mintue major for intent to injure....lol

If the Wings were in the east, they would own the conference!! I say keep the divisions intact but do away with "automatic top 3 seed" for winning the division. In recent years, the winner of the SE division would BARELY make the playoffs (if at all) if it wasn't for this seeding. I have said numerous times, seed all teams in the playoffs 1-16 with no bearing on conference.

The league should change the rule on this. If he leaves the crease, the chance for a interference call should be wiped out. In the game on Saturday, Nabokov is 5 feet outside the crease and Sammy (?) was skating around and going for a loose puck and runs into him and getting a penalty. If ANYTHING, Nabokov should have gotten the interference call. I don't want to see goalies get run, but if you leave the crease, they can knock you down and get the puck from you. Maybe they can change the crease to give the goalie a little more room. Or, make a "2nd crease" so the guys who screen (Homer) can be inside the "2nd crease". What do you think?
-
Ok, let's say goalies are not fair game to be checked like a forward or defenseman. What about giving him a love tap, or a bump to knock him off stride? He isn't bodychecked. If he strays out of the crease to play the puck and someone sneaks behind him, give him a nudge to lose his balance and steal the puck. Make the crease a 5' semicircle (similar to what they had in 80s/90s). In this area, the goalie cannot be touched. An opposing player CAN go into the crease for deflections, loose puck and so on. Outside this 5' arc, if you are a goalie, you can get bumped and "interferred" with, without a GI penalty.

Is he one of the better refs in the league? I don't think he is one of the refs that "hate" the Wings but why did he not call the penalty where Dats was hit into the boards? That is how careers are ended or changed. Would he have called it if the was "the Poster Boy"? Also, the "tripping" call on Kopesky, was it really a trip or a nice hip check in open ice? Seemed like they were trying to even stuff up to me.
-
Yes he did, but the ref 70+ feet away called it. Mcreary could have called something, he looked right at it. Now if it was Sissy Crosby.................................... Looks like everyone is mixed in Mcreary. I thought he was one of the better refs. The thing I hate is when something is missed when any ref is looking right at it. When Hossa had the break away, how close was that to a penalty shot? Just curious....

Instead of reading 6 pages of posts I just want to post that over at freep.com there is an article that Z says he hasn't turned down an offer like this. -

But, that stopped with NJ in '95. All but 3 years since, have come from division winners (2 of the 3 being the Wings).

I would rather have someone good over many years than have someone great over a short period of time. Here are some career stats of goalies in the HHOF.... G W L T SO GAA W% Pt% Tony Esposito 886 423 306 151 76 2.92 .477 .562 Grant Fuhr 868 403 295 114 25 3.38 .464 .530 Gump Worsley 861 335 352 150 43 2.88 .389 .476 Terry Sawchuk 971 447 330 172 103 2.51 .460 .549 Patrick Roy 1029 551 315 131 66 2.54 .535 .599 Jacques Plante 837 437 246 145 82 2.38 .522 .609 Bernie Parent 608 271 198 121 54 2.55 .445 .545 Glenn Hall 906 407 326 163 84 2.49 .449 .539 Ed Giacomin 609 289 209 96 54 2.82 .475 .553 Ozzie 685 377 197 66 47 2.45 .550 .599 Ozzie's W% is higher than all the above, his GAA is 2nd best. His stats are comparably better than all the above in the HHOF. Who cares if he played on "great teams". Fuhr played on some of the best teams ever, but his GAA sucks and his W% isn't all that good either. Remember the last few years there is no tie game and (I forget the year), the games ended in a tie at end of regulation and there was no OT.

What would happen if the cap is at $50 in 2 years and the Wings have a team salary of $55 million before the cap is set. Do players take a certain percent pay cut? Will they get an exception? Will they have to buy out players and release them like post lockout?

Looking for video of Chelios after trade saying he won't play for

I think he has even played more years here than in Chicago..... -
I possibly might be able to make it. I was going to go to the last one against the Hawks but the previous week I slipped on ice and literally could not move without pain for nearly 2 weeks. Just let me know when & where....

My idea would be to have a home and home against each team in the east (30 games), 3 games against the 10 other teams in the conference (30 games) and 6 games against each team in division (24 games) This would give us 84 games. The playoffs would be done similar to the NCAA bracket for March Madness (off last season's final standings): #1 DET vs. #16 NAS #8 DAL vs. #9 NYR #5 ANA vs. #12 OTT #4 PIT vs. #13 BOS #6 NJ vs. #11 PHI #3 MON vs. #14 CAL #7 MIN vs. #10 COL #2 SJ vs. #15 CAR So the winner of #1-#16 would play the winner of #8-#9. The winner of #5-#12 would play the winner of #4-#13 and so on. This way, the top 4 teams could not play one another until the "conference finals". There would be no reseeding either. Also, winning you division does not guarantee a top 6 spot as many years, the worst division winner would barely make it in (SE division almost every year). This would make it a better chance of seeing the top 2 teams in the finals vs in the conference finals.

The voting is a complete joke. Just think, next year there won't be a joke like this year (Olympics). I think each team picks 3 or 4 people from the front office (Yzerman, Holland, Devellano etc) to vote for the All Stars. They each pick 6 forwards, 4 defensemen and 2 goalies (for each conference). They can't choose a player on their team. The players with the most votes are the starters. To go even further, give the coaches and assistant coaches votes to, that way, there are more votes and less of a chance for a tie. Do this after the New Year, that way, nearly all teams have played 1/2 a season. Also, do away with the "every team needs a rep". If your team sucks, you don't deserve a rep.

This happened against the Pens in either last 89 or early 90. Should be one of the top 10 all time.
-
But Crosby is the youngest captain in history. He is the postboy for the new NHL. He is God's gift to the NHL. Flipper is some kid who grew up in Finland and plays hockey. I think Flips goal is better than Orr's because Orr shot the puck BEFORE he went airborne. Why wasn't this goal one of the top 10 of the year? I would say Nash's was #1, followed by Zett's and then Flip's. Mule's would be up to #5.

If Eddie said it, it must be true. Why is this assclown an announcer?

There are 3 ideas I think the league should consider --- 1. Pair the top 2 teams of the previous season in the WC with the better team @ home. (Sharks @ Wings) 2. A rematch of the cup finals with winner getting home ice. (Pens @ Wings) 3. Play the ASG outdoors on a roatating basis. What do you think?
