How did we brutalize him in the 97 Finals? He was traded to Carolina. I say the only locks are: 1. Lidstrom 2. Ozzie (stats speak for him) 3. Stevie Y (he isn't in YET) 4. Fedorov 5. Vernon (down the road) 6. Dino (if 600+ goals don't get you in, what does?) 7. Babs 8. Holland These came off the top of my head and there are probably a few more. I am NOT including Sheppard, Primeau and Gallant. Shep had a few good years but nothing out of the ordinary outside of the Wings. I STILL don't understand why he was even captain in Philly. Gallant was a decent compliment to Stevie but not HOF credentials.

After last night they are tied for 3rd MOST penalized. Before they were somewhere in the middle of the pack (not going to check every game and subtract last night's penalties). I just don't understand how a puck possession team like the Wings have that many penalties. They are averaging nearly 1 more penalty per game then the opposition. They will outplay and kick some Shark ass tonight and win 4 - 1!!
-
I agree 110% with what you said. Yeah, the Wings deserved the penalties, but the Sucks deserved AT LEAST 8 more penalties. With our PP at 32% or so, we COULD have scored another 2 or 3 goals and would have never went to OT. I am surprised not many people are complaining about the winner. Total Horses***!!
-
I understand about "not calling everything", but when there were 19 penalties called seems like they were calling almost everything. It looked like interference in the corner that led directly to the go ahead goal (Sucks, yes Sucks 4th). The elbow on Dats by the biggest POS in history would have given the Wings a 5 - 3 for 2 minutes. I bet Bettman was in the "war room" and said to not wave it off. Ozzie played a great game and had no chance on 4 of the goals.
-
How about the elbow on Dats? The highstick on Sammy? THE HIGHSTICK GAME WINNING GOAL? The Wings should have had another 8 PP chances. Horses*** reffing tonight.
-
How about we pitch in $53 and we would have a .1% stake in the team. At the same rate of return the team would be worth $11,476,125,000 and our share would be $11,476,125 and if we have 11,000 members, that $53 is now $1043. Would be nice!!

How many times have the Wings lost a goal and were shorthanded after a Homer "interference"?
-
The Wings have been among the LEAST penalized teams for quite a while. I don't understand why they have been called for so many penalties. Yes, I see in "red & white", but I do say "they have to call that on him" when a Wings player does something. In just the 1st 2 periods tonight, I saw at least 4 - 6 non calls that should have been called. Z's near breakaway shorthanded, Kronner pushed into the boards (Sammy gets roughing) and the check that May put on Drapes is 3 that come to mind. The number of 5 - 3 penalties they have had to kill after 9 2/3 games is BS! It has got to be at least 10 - 12 so far.

Quite a few of the goals Ozzie has allowed to go in were bad bounces. The one off of Lid's skate last night comes to mind. As long as we score more than the other team, who cares what we give up. Even if no Wing wins a trophy, all they (and we) care about is Stanley. If we score 395 goals and give up 300 and our record is 58-12-12 and win the cup, who cares, right? Once the "D" turns it around, we will be looking DAMN GOOD!!

They league should have awarded the game to the Devils and no points to the Flyers. That proves, yet again, that Philly fans are the worst fans in all of sports. I also read on AOL that someone said the league should do what they do in Europe. Either take all the gate receipts from the team or in the next game play the game with no fans in the building. What if it bounced and hit a player in the eye?

I am not bashing the refs (at least not yet) but I have noticed differences when they call certain plays. Remember the Hossa holding penalty a few games ago? He BARELY touched the guy and was called and a few minutes later a more blatant holding occured and wasn't called. The numerous crosschecks AFTER the play is blown dead. Zets and Hudler tonight. The trip on Lebda (?) and later Dats gets tripped and nothing. The stuff after the whistle should be called more than it already does. Am I just seeing things?

Now this was funny s***.....
-
Homer can score if he doesn't get treated like he did in the playoffs (interference penalties). Also, if he stays injury free. Dats can afford to give up the G & A for more take aways. We have enough fire power (on paper anyway) to make up his difference. Our scoring and goaltending will correct itself. Sammy's aim? He isn't a goal scorer and never will be. Chip in a few G here and there and rile up the opposition is his specialty.

Even the "This Day In History" has errors like you wouldn't believe. I know for a fact that Fedorov's birthdate is wrong on this as he was born the same day as I was. I think the page says something like the 5th or 18th. It listed the Wings / Hawks game from 87 that the Wings won 12 - 0 and had the wrong date (it was either the day of or day before my b-day). Larionov's birthday is wrong. Of course, I haven't checked lately as I saw these errors the 1st time I looked at them 2 months or so ago when it was activated.

I had some pics from the 25th row of the upper bowl from behind the banner if anyone wants them.....LOL
-
Ty played a great game and if he plays and if Ozzie plays close to what he did last year, we should see one of the great seasons in league history. The key is no injuries like last year (outside of Feb) and have a very good backup.
-
Damn skippy!! I was watching the beginning of the recording to see what she looked like up close, NOTHING!! Still looked HOT from the bleeders.

Read topic #4 Not So Blue...... http://www.macombdaily.com/articles/2008/1...00003702354.txt

I am not worried about any comments made by ANY announcer. If a team wins one year without any major problems and they lose nearly nothing in the off-season and they make probably the biggest splash in the summer, they will be fine and barring any major injuries, be right up there (hopefully winning it all and not hit a hot goalie).
-
The funny thing is that there were 2 empty netters at the end of the game.
-
How weird..... Usually when there is a post about Ozzie, all the naysayers come out saying he is a "product of the system" and "isn't HOF material". Where are they all now?
-
Ozzie should be a HOFer once his career is over. His stats speak for him. I was going to compare Ozzie with Broduer and Roy, but hockeydb.com does not tally career stats right now (SUCKS!).
-
Including the ages of their gymnasts!
-
I always followed them since I was able to read the paper. Back then, they were very seldom on TV and if it was, with only 1 TV in the house, it never was really on. I remember my father telling us years ago that his uncle started one of the greatest (if not greatest) traditions in professional sports (tossing of the octopus). That got me hooked as far as you could back in the 70s & early 80s.

Nope, I was looking AND hoping. I did see it on NHL Network sometime last season.
