I agree, if he wasn't relegated to a back up role or playing for an average to cellar dweeling team (Isles), he would damn near be in the top 10 in all time wins. All of the top 10 in wins are either in the HOF or not eligible yet. I think he deserves it when he retires. Everyone would say "he played on great Wings teams". Well, Brodeur, Roy and others played on great teams.

That is ALMOST as good as Exit 69 on I-75 in MI being Big Beaver Road.

None of those are as crazy as where I wore mine in '02. We went to my work's company picnic at Hershey Park, which is about an hour from Philly. There were MANY Flyer fans there that day. I wore it the day they clinched a berth in the finals.

1st thing.... Before the "disallowed goal" the goal was knocked upwards and the goal would not have counted. The goal must remain on the ice in order for the goal to count. 2nd thing(s).... They called Hasek for holding the stick. Where was the call when he was knocked over behind the net? If Homer looked at Ellis crossedeyed, he would have gotten called for interference. Where was the call for the boarding on DMac? Should have been a 4 minute PP. There was an offsides on Dats where he was skating backwards. You can have yourself offsides as long as you have control of the puck (HE DID). There was a penalty in one of the corners where a Wing was held and the ref was looking right at it. Where was that call? As far as being lucky, you do need luck to win The Cup. How many times did the Preds have a PP in the 1st 2 games and nullify it by causing a penalty of their own?

Reboot your cable box. I get it from time to time and I just reboot the box and all is fine when it powers back up.

That's what we were thinking back in Feb when they won 8 straight and played LA and TOR and lost both of them and most of the games in Feb. Hopefully they can win the last 3 and get to 117 points and as a team win the Jennings Trophy. The only way they WON'T win the Jennings is if SJ allows 10 or so more goal less than the Wings allow. Unsure of the shootout loss totals of the 2 teams.

After reading this post it looks like I have the "free center ice". I just flipped to the Sharks / Kings game and it is intermission and seems to be on. Guess I will be recording the last 3 Wings games.... I am in Lancaster County PA on Blue Ridge.

Reminds me of when ESPN showed hockey and nearly every other week they showed the Mario & Jaromir show. I got sick of seeing the Pens on TV each and every week.

I remember that game. It was against the Hawks and they were down 2-0 with 40 secs left. They scored 2 goals in the last 40 secs to tie and Pavel scored with no time on the clock. They had to review it to make sure it crossed before time expired.

If it wasn't for the Wings playing west coast series every year, they could have had another cup or 2.

Maybe for teh eastern conference. There would be less for the west due to the fact they would possibly be playing a west team. It would balance the travel over 16 teams instead of the 8. Last year the Wings played all 3 series on the west coast. Is the really fair to them? While a team like Philly could possibly play PIT, NJ and the NYR and travel via BUS.

I agree with you on this. If they do expand to include 2 teams from each conference, then make the bottom 4 teams in each play a "play in game". It would be a 1 game playoff to decide the 7th & 8th seeds. I would prefer to get rid of the conference affiliations once the playoffs start and seed the TOP 16 teams and do 1-16, 2-15 and so on. if season ended last night the 1st round would be: DET/VAN SJ/BOS PIT/PHI MON/COL ANA/CAR OTT/CAL NJ/DAL MIN/NYR It actually worked out and 8 teams from each conf made it in. Do the playoffs like the NCAA Basketball tourney. So the winner of 1/16 plays the winner of 8/9.

Last year, there were 4 EC and 7 WC teams over 100 points (104 the lowest). This year, there will be maybe 3 teams (Wings, Sharks, Devils) reaching 100 points. Even the 1st year after the lockout, there were 10 teams with 100+ points. Can this be explained? So far, only 2 teams have clinched a spot in the playoffs.

Also, don't forget the Wings were without their top 3 D-men for several weeks and lost #4 towards the end. If it wasn't for those big losses, they would be resting key players now as the President's Trophy would have already been decided. Right now, they are back on track and playing pretty good. I feel pretty good about the playoffs for some reason. Hopefully they don't disappoint us all!!

I agree about the dislike for parity. Personally I liked the games where players padded their stats. I miss those 6-1 and 10-2 games.

I don't remember the year but when Paul Coffey played for the Wings he had a triple minor. Don't remember the calls though.

I remember when McCourt was traded away and was the top news story of the day. Paul Woods played for them too in late 70s. I know I am showing my age but I remember when Bobby Kromm was fired. The was in the beginning of the Dead Wings. I can remember when the Wings would have less wins in 2 seasons than they did by Feb 1 this year. I really can't wait for the playoffs and then we can all be the biggest fans around come June (after 16 playoff wins).

Damn, so far I have been the biggest fan the longest. I remember only when a few games a year were on TV. There was no PASS, FSD and no Center Ice. I have pretty much followed them since WHA/NHL merger (if you would call it that). I would say 28 - 29 years of being a fan.
