Hossa Sweepstakes down to four teams?

I can confirm the 48 hour period to sign Hossa to a new contract before the trade is made. It's all over the media here in Atlanta. Well as much as anything hockey related is all over the media down here.

Thrashers priority is to re-sign Hossa...

Lifelong Red Wings fal living in Atlanta checking in here. First off, you have to understand that DW lies nearly as much as Bush does. He's been scouting Monteal heavy the past week or so yet in a local interview he said that he had no discussions at all with Montreal and there was nothing going on there. Second keep in mind that this teram is operated on a shoestring. When Hartley was let go at the start of the season DW was named head coach mainly because they are still paying Hartley and could not afford to hire a new Head Coach. Not too long ado the President / CEO of the team left and the owners said that they would step in to fill that role. Once again, this was most likely so as to save money. The team is likely not going to make the playoffs, I think that the best they have been all season is one or two games over .500. Bottom line, there is really not much chance of Hossa staying here and everybody pretty much knows it at this point. Most people are starting to get sick of the whole thing and just want it over with one way or the other. My gut feeling is the the Red Wings really don't want this guy only because he has a history of not showing up in the playoffs. And thats the last thing that we need right now. Also, it would have to be some sort of a sign and trade deal otherwise he would only be a rental.

Wings sign (G) Adam Berkhoel, (D) Brad Ference

Before you call him that, you might want to take a look at the situation. Adam was the starter or backup (depending on who lost the last game) for the Gwinnett Gladiators in the ECHL when the Thrashers lost just about every goalie they had to injury and Adam was thrown into the roll of starting goalie for an NHL team with no experience at all. The poor kid was lucky to do as well as he did given how lousy the Thrashers were playing in front of him at the time. It was rough experience for him but he came through it and he learned a great deal from it. At the ECHL level this kid is one of the tops, playing in the last two Kelly Cup finals. With the right coaching he should be able to do well at GR if thats where they place him. I've met Adam several times when he was with the Gladiators. He's a great kid with a good amount of skill at his position and hes a good team member. I don't see him ever being a started in the NHL but as a role player in the minors I'd take him any time. This is a great pickup for the Wings minor leagues. And I could not be more happy seeing him with the Wings!

    Atlanta vs. Nashville

Well, your close. Your right in that there are a ton of transplants here in Atlanta. But most of them follow the Thrashers and only go to a game when their old team like the Wings come to town. We were out on Sunday morning running some errands and saw about 5 people wearing Red Wings jerseys in the store and sever car flags while we were out.
