Like I said this is a different situation. Hossa didn't leave the Pens and go to a rival team and a lesser one at that in Philly where Pens fans would have had to see him 8 times during the regular season. It's just not the same thing.

After seeing the cap numbers and reading countless articles over the last few weeks about how Holland and Hossa were not close to a contract, reality set in. I was comfortable and felt no sour grapes that Hossa would not be back with this team. But today, %#%$, after hearing that both Hossa and Kopecky signed with the division rival Blackhawks the first thought in my head was "those f##king weasels!" This is nothing like the Pens fans who were bitter at Hossa for leaving, because Hossa didn't go to Philly he went to an entirely different conference. This IMO is kind of a slap in the face. By their actions are Hossa and Kopecky saying the Wings are weak? That with their new team they can beat the Wings on a regular basis? Why else would they both choose to play their former team 8 times a season?

Holland "Not Optimistic" about re-signing Hossa

Teams can start talking to players after midnight. But nothing can be made official until tomorrow afternoon. -
Holland "Not Optimistic" about re-signing Hossa
Johnny Diamonds replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
I think the Hossa saga will end at midnight. And honestly nobody should have sour grapes over his departure. He did a great thing by taking alot less money and gambling on winning the cup in one season and it almost paid off for him and the Red Wings. In a perfect world not only would we re-sing Hossa tomorrow we also sign Jay Bouwmeester but that's just not the reality of the new salary cap NHL. -
Holland "Not Optimistic" about re-signing Hossa

If Kenny was willing to move Filpula's contract then many more options would be on the table than just settling for Hossa. For example if some team signs Phil Kessel to an offer sheet of over $6 mil, Boston cannot match that offer. That said I think Fil is a keeper. He's got 30 goal potential written all over him. -
Does Brad Stuart have a no trade clause? He could be a key piece in a trade to a team trying to trim salary. Not every team can afford to spend to the cap ceiling in these tough economic times. His salary + the 3.5 million the Wings have could fetch a handful of quality players.

The draft coverage online blows. TSN,SPortsnet.ca,ESPN. There's no links to player profiles and video highlights etc. I'm watching the draft on tv but I'm interested in futher info and it seems there is hardly any to be found.

Crosby and Malkin are s***ting their pants. They know the cheapshot is coming it's just a question of how bad the cheapshot is?
-
This kind of sucks for me now. After the Pens won the cup I adopted the Flyers as a second team to follow in the East just so I could find more reasons to hate Cindy Crosby. And now this sob Pronger. A player I have hated for so long is now on the Flyers #^%!!!

Ok, I'd try to sign either Knuble or LaRose and then see if I can get Numminen on a one year contract.

For older fans- televised games in Detroit in late 70's, early 80s
Johnny Diamonds replied to thegreat66's topic in General
In the early 80's in Metro Detroit before PASS sports, Ch.50 WKBD had Wings games on. You could also catch Wings games on CBC Hockey Night in Canada whenever they played the Leafs or other Canadian teams. Also if I'm not mistaken either Global(CAN) or CTV(CAN) had some NHL games on as well. -
Yeah no kidding, they are way under the cap. Also I forgot the price for RFAs it's like 2 1st rounders. Ouch! I might as well delete my last two posts

Thank You Captain America. I hated your guts before you became a Red Wing. Once you became a Red Wing you grew on me and I admired and respected the hell out of your workman like effort every game. Thank You for not only helping the Wings win two Cups but also everything you've done for the city of Detroit by investing in the city opening businesses and creating jobs for people around here. You were a great player and are a good American. Good luck with whatever you do from here on out and good luck to your son as he pursues an NHL career!
-
No offense to the original poster, but this is a stupid thread. I've never seen any evidence of so called "hate" for Zetterberg around here. In fact I would say many around here respect the hell out of Zetterberg and are happy that he has signed a lifetime contract with the Wings. There is also a good chance he will be the future Captain of this team.

Oh and one more thing. I am f*ing sick of seeing Babcock getting screwed out of the coach of the year. What does he got to do to win that damn thing? Didn't he break some sort of NHL record for the first four seasons as a coach?
-
Yeah maybe they should have the vote after the playoffs are over. I would say Malkin wins the Hart and Lidstrom the Norris easily if that were the case.
-
He's teaching Crosby a lesson. He said he is a great kid when he keeps his mouth shut basicly.
-
Or Barry Melrose being on board!
-
Knuble= good penalty killer. To me that's worth more than Hudler and Sammy combined!

Draper ticked that Crosby snubbed Lidstrom
Johnny Diamonds replied to timothy1997's topic in General
Nope I don't cry over sports, if someone close to me dies I will shed a tear or two but not over sports or other small things in life like that. It's not the first time the Wings lost in the playoffs and it surely won't be the last. When all is said and done there is always next year to look forward to. That's what's great about following sports. There is always another day and another chance. And btw I ping your weak insults off like they are misquitos. They are very childish much like your idol Cindy Crosby. -

Instead of waiting to be banned why don't you just leave on your own? What a tool
