I think I understand what shoe is saying(even though Babcock was talking about the Pens situation). If Hudler and Samuelsson aren't willing to play here for a reasonable contract ie "aren't right for this team" then Holland and Babacock will find similar players who will fit their roles for a reasonable amount. Is that what you meant shoe?

Draper ticked that Crosby snubbed Lidstrom
Johnny Diamonds replied to timothy1997's topic in General
Like I said before: I am jealous of the Caps fans who have the best player in the league. There's nothing inconsistent about that statement. Hell in a recent poll amongst NHL players they voted by a wide margin in favor of Alex Ovechkin as the league's best player. Cindy Crosby came somewhere around 8th place in that same poll and that's the opinion of the players. Apparently the only blind one around here is you being a blind homer Cindy Crosby fanboy. -

Maybe because he's the NHL's selfish spoiled little brat. -

Well I'm going to have to disagree with you there. Because personally I'm jealous of the Caps fans who have the best player in the league Alex Ovechkin. I'd love to have a player like that on our team. He's an amazing player and the D.C. area is lucky to have him. -

That's what this forum is for. That's what fans do, they talk about their team and their players and they also discuss other teams and those team's players in both a positive or negative fashion. Cindy Crosby is a professional hockey player and he is paid to play hockey and lead his team. He's not paid to cry to the refs or cry to the media. There is a difference. Can you see it? -
Exactly, this is a bit of a pipe dream. If this were still pre salary cap era you'd say: ok get Heatly and Kovalchuck problem solved! But that's just not the case now.
-
I'd love to have Bouwmeester but after reading this: "Holland said his defense is in place. The top seven are Lidstrom, Rafalski, Niklas Kronwall, Brad Stuart, Jonathan Ericsson, Brett Lebda and Lilja, whose future remains a bit murky due to persistent headaches." I think we can forget about it.

Ok, well I agree it would be wonderful to have a talented player such as he on our team. But trade what for him? Ottawa is not gonna just give him away. They originally traded a much younger version of Marian Hossa for him. So I suspect they wouldn't move him unless they were getting a player of equal value for him.

I'm not gonna take much away from what the Pens did in this series as it was. They made adjustments and played Ducks style hockey and did it well. Not to mention they had more forward depth than the Ducks. But I can't help but wonder if the NHL had stuck to it's ORIGINAL F'ING PLAN! And this series started Friday June 5th instead of May 29th, would the outcome have been different? One thing is for certain: Datsyuk would've been ready to go in game 2 on June 6th! It's a moot point and hindsight is 20/20 but I cannot help but wonder?

How about not re-signing Hossa and instead sign Jay Bouwmeester Lidstrom/Bouwmeester Stuart/Kronwall Big E/Rafalski Lebda traded for a pick Lilija depth defensemen
-
I'm feeling a bit down but the funny thing is I've felt this way since they lost game 6. I just had a bad feeling going into this game. To me game 6 was their chance to put this series away. I expected Datsyuk and Hossa to rise to the occasion in game 6 and they failed to do so. Pittsburgh played harder and more desperate winning 4 out of the last 5 and deserved this title. There is always next year! GO WINGS!!!

Scoring on the power play might help. This is now two games in a row the Wings had a chance to put the game away early with the power play and they botched it.
-
Pittsburgh's forecheck has been solid in all 3 games and is causing most of the turnovers in our own end on routine plays. Everytime Ericsson is out there I fear he will turnover the puck. His play has been shaky since the Chicago series when he started getting destroyed by Byfuglien.
-
It sure is starting to look that way. But Babcock is using every bit of a psychological advantage he can get out of it right now.

McKeon: Geez, not ANOTHER Wings-Penguins Cup final...
Johnny Diamonds replied to mjlegend's topic in General
This says it all right here in his bio Ross McKeon Ross McKeon covered the San Jose Sharks and the National Hockey League for 17 years at the San Francisco Chronicle and San Francisco Examiner. A chapter chairman for the Pro Hockey Writers' Association, he also has experience covering Major League Baseball and pro tennis. Ross graduated from California State University Hayward with a degree in Mass Communications. "WAAAAAAAAAAH the Sharks aren't in it." -
It's in the tank alright. Bettman knowns the Wings top players are banged up and wants to schedule back to back games this weekend. He's a scumbag!
-
There is no ulterior motive. There are more Lakers fans in the city limits of Detroit than there are Pistons fans in the city limits of Detroit and btw Detroit is over 90% African American. Most of which are not hockey fans. Thus making my point valid. They will not watch the SCF regardless of when it starts. And we are talking about the hometown of one of the teams involved in the SCF. ESPN will not market hockey more than 5 minutes a show whether it's the SCF or any other playoff game. They don't have it and they don't care to cover it.
-
This entire thing was about me talking about ratings and the SCF and you trying to make some heroic political stand so that your inner conscience can accumulate more brownie points to help exercise your white guilt. This is a Detroit Red Wings forum I come here to talk hockey, to talk about my team from my hometown. I don't come here to get in little political pissing matches with some hippie on the left coast.
-
Time for me to go, yet he is the first one tossing out all the personal insults while I was trying to make a valid point about Bettman/NHL, minorites and ratings? I get shown the door and he doesn't? What are you his life partner or something?

San Fransicko the sanctuary city for illegal aliens where enlightenment is breaking the law. How classy and modern of you. And the *** marriage thing lol. WHat was it prop 8 where 70% of California African Americans (Democrats who voted for Obama) also voted it down. Yet the cowardly gays run around protesting and mobbing against the harmless Mormons instead of making a stand and taking issue with the minorites in their own party who disown them. CLASSIC!
-
I'm sure you run into alot of suprising occurrences over there in that freakshow known as San Fransicko. Where men look like women but are actually men and vice versa. As the saying goes liberalism is a mental disorder so who is the the one with the mental disorder here leftie?
