If you actually care to read, I said they're all playoff disappointments (Guerin or Tkachuk with something like .5 pts per game in the playoffs) or haven't won anything Look up the career playoff stats and they're not good every single year.
-
He was damn cheap too. They could've easily fit him under the cap. Even Sykora wouldn't have been a bad addition.

According to TSN.ca and other sites were talking about the demands of Philly being extravagent and most teams beside the Preds being unwilling to meet them. In fact, TSN noted the Preds outbid other teams by a wide marging. I simply don't see any of the other potential buyers making those kind of offers. Few of the remaining buyers have the young assets that Nash had to deal. Nash could afford to deal a young dman because their system is so stocked. This is not true of other teams. Guerin, Smyth, Fatchuk et al are NOT Forsberg. Forsberg has, at times, been the best forward in the league and he is a proven playoff warrior. In contrast, the remaining high level forwards are all playoff disappointments (Guerin or Tkachuk with something like .5 pts per game in the playoffs) or haven't won anything

Brian Burke basically had the same thoughts from monday. He was actually more pissed compared to holland. If the prices don't go down, move on and target others.

Esposito on the XM: Wings looking at Tkachuk
Mighty Wings replied to The Enforcer's topic in General
If Tkachuk is cheaper than guerin, maybe worth considering. -
They've got $23 MIL tied up for next year. It could be more if the bonuses for chelios and hasek kick in.

point taken.

Wow. So, Based on that logic, ryan smyth was probably a total dud with a grand total of 1 assist

This is obviously a tough one. If holland is serious about getting him, its obvious that if he tanks it in the couple of games it will scare everyone off, dragging down his value. But if he does play very well or not great but Good enough, the number of suitors will rise and the current asking price will be elevated. The most ideal scenario would be something like, if he ends up getting limited ice time and doesn't really show enough for other teams to gauge his overall play.

In case you didn't know, there are like a zillion other threads about wiliams' trade value. Some even think waiving him isn't a bad idea.

From HF Boards: Mentioned during the HNIC's Satellite Hotstove chat, here's what the Wings offered, and what the Canucks and Sharks were asked for. Doesn't sound like anyone was as serious as the Predators: based on the offer, it seems that nobody wants/is gonna want williams.

Could Be. I wouldn't be surprised if there was. Just telling what was reported. -

Haven't forgotten him, he would be soild option and wouldn't mind if he was brought over. But if you're zubrus, why leave your buddy ovechkin? My gut tells me that he'll re-sign with the caps. -
Its a crapshoot, but you can still gauge how deep a draft is (I'm not saying they should or shouldn't have traded because the draft class is strong). The years they traded picks were the years where the draft was deep. So holland had a "win now" mentality and teams who wanted to rebuild, and get draft picks in a good year was an added bonus for those teams. For Example, buffalo in 2003 (i think) gets derek roy and jason pominville in the 2nd round. From what I've been hearing, this year's draft class isn't very good, possibly even the worst in this decade so far. Therefore, 1st round pick last year does not = 1st round pick this year. Last but not least, in the salary cap, you gotta concentrate more on building through the draft.
-
I agree with a lot of things you've said today, except that one. Chelios: Ericsson and 2 1st rounders Schneider: Avery, Kuznetsov, 1st and a 2nd. Lang: Fleischmann, 1st and a 4th.

Holmstrom re-signed for 3 years, $6M (est.)
Mighty Wings replied to hockeyfanatic's topic in General
Terrific deal. I was hoping it wouldn't be any more than $2 mil. It gives us more flexibility in the summer. -
How is that an overpayment for us? florida gets killed in that deal.

sorry bro, don't understand czech. -
Right. I think there will be a trade made. He may be giving some people a heart attack, by saying "we'd like to, but we don't need to." I'm convinced he will, otherwise if we don't and go out early again, he will be blamed for being inactive when he could've made a move or two, and it will all blow up in his face. I don't know if he'd be willing to take that chance and perhaps even lose his job. Come 3:30pm on the 27th, if there are no moves made to benefit the team at all, this topic will be the most active.

If we get guerin, we still would have to get someone to watch over everyone's backs. If we could trade for guerin and mayers, that would be ideal. Tkachuk is also a decent option, but i honestly see guerin as a better fit for this team.

Seattle is long overdue for an NHL franchise. This is a city with a rich history of hockey including: the first American team to win a Stanley Cup (1917 Seattle Metropolitans), a long running Pacific Coast League team (Seattle Pilots), and a great tradition of junior hockey. If the NHL would ever get started there in a modern hockey rink, I think that the franchise would blossom. There would be a tremendous rivalry with Vancouver, Denver, and the SoCal teams. It might just be the impetus to push Portland into the league as well. If both came into existence, there would be 8 divisions of 4 teams each. Also, the T-birds (WHL team) draw pretty well too. Seattle is a natural for the schedule makers. There has always been cries from the West on the travel headaches. By moving Detroit back to the Eastern conf. (which is the way it should be), and putting Seattle into the western mix, it would improve the imbalance in travel between the two divisions. Bring an NHL franchise to Seattle!!!!!!!!

This has been the best line since the All-star break. Zetterberg leads everyone in scoring since then and, i gotta believe either homer or pavel is in the top 10 of that list as well. What I like about this line is, all 3 of them are very productive together, something that can be said for only a couple of lines in hockey.

Konstantinov miraculously becomes normal again(pre-accident), passes his physical and comes on board.
