After the game on sunday night, Babcock was asked about the giordano/zetterberg ordeal and he said, that puck possesion is what they're about and they want to dictate that style of play against their opponents. Later Paul Woods had similar thoughts stating that they should continue to keep doing that has helped them get to where they are. When I heard em both, it seemed to me like they don't need (mind not getting) a "martin lapointe" type of player at the deadline. Although, ulitimately it is upto holland and co. to decide whether or not they need that kind of player. Lately, We've heard that holland is looking for just a scoring winger. The last couple games obviously with Macdonald in net, and lilja out, its not the best time to make a judgement. However, with hasek in net, and markov back in the lineup, in addition to holland's scoring winger that he'd like to acquire (assuming thats his plan at the moment), will the puck posession style + these components, enusre more success in the playoffs than the last few seasons?

I've heard that Doan's priority is to stay in phx. Whether that ends up happening or not is another story. As of now I'd say there's a 75%-80% chance he won't be traded anywhere.

Yeah its absurd. I wanna point out the weight deal last year, where he went for basically a 1st and a 4th. He wasn't having a good year, but STL could argue that was a result of playing on a bad team. So the difference between weight : forsberg is a 4th round pick : Radulov????? It essentially makes doug weight the equivalent of chopped liver.

1st in the conference, but not the presidents trophy. That trophy has changed them in the last 3 out of 4 seasons, and have been caught off guard in the early rounds. I hope buffalo wins it, so that at least it won't alter their attitude. I wouldn't mind if anaheim won it either (we'd be 2nd in that scenario).

From HF Boards: Pierre Mcguire was on a radio station yesterday and he said expect Forsberg to be traded, probably by Wednesday, and that Detroit is probably not leading the pack in terms of who will get him. Also says that the Flyers are trying to create a bidding war and it is not working.

If Williams isn't part of any deal (forsberg or lang), I'd love for the wings to get a gritty 4th line player in the mold of mayers, asham, lapointe, etc.

'04 wasn't that bad. He only wasn't putting the puck in the net like the previous few seasons. I'd say '04 was more of an off year for him. But he was still regarded as one of the top power forwards in the league prior to the incident. As for last year, 90 out of a 100 players would've been affected mentally/psychologically in the situation he was in. He needed a change of scenery, as would most other people in that situation.

There is a "change of scenery" factor that works sometimes, just like it did with Kenny Rogers. Rasheed Wallace is another example. It was still unintentional. And regarding the Injury, yes its a given that he hasn't played much, but If he's healthy he's a top 5 Power forward in the league. However, I don't want him if he's not close to 100%. There's gonna be a couple of weeks worth of time to figure out if he is back to the level desired.

Kenny Rogers was supposed to be a cancer and at 41 washed up too. He also had a postseason ERA of over 9.00. A hockey one: How about Lang's resume before coming to the wings : 51 playoff games 9G 13A. Those transactions sure are lookin terrible

There should be more in-depth categories on GWGs. There should be GWGs in the 3rd period and OT, GWGs in 1 goal games & 2 goal games.

Semin or Gagne are definitely not available. There is a decent chance doan will re-sign I'd add Tkachuk, Sturm, Roberts, Gelinas, Nagy. Once we get closer to the deadline there will be more and more sellers by then. I think its safe to say that there are 7 teams at the moment who are in that position so far.

Zednik could be a low-risk, high reward type of player. He isn't consistent nor is he a good 2-way player, but he can score and he has been pretty good in the playoffs in certain years. His last few years in the playoffs (02, 04, 06): 21 games 9-7-16

Staying on the same team, what about Asham? He signed only a 1yr deal last summer.

Fedetenko is a nice player. Not exactly the type who will engage in physical contests, but he does score goals and goes into high traffic areas. We'd still need somebody like lapointe, IMO.

My goodness, this league continues making Millen-like decisions.
