Actually they need to subtract one. Lidstrom - Rafalski Chelios - Kronwall Lilja- Quincey with all due respect... Lebda is a 3rd pairing guy and a puck moving d-man. We already have 3 of those. Meech is also out of waiver options, and is just as good if not better than lebda. IMO, trade lebda and meech should be the 7th d-man

Yeah Eklund must've heard the interview by calgary's TV announcer, who says regehr is looking to leave calgary next yr. This topic is also on HFboards, which elaborates more on the interview and everything else the announcer said. http://hfboards.com/showthread.php?t=393726

If there's anyone that the wings should try to trade for, its Robyn Regehr. He does not wish to resign or play with the Flames beyond next season. He's on the last year of his contract, makes roughly $2 million.

Group II's (of note) not tended qualifying offers
Mighty Wings replied to MacK_Attack's topic in General
Alexei Semenov. A 25 yr old 6'5 D'man from Florida, became available since they have a big logjam there. Even Noah Welch, a very good young d'man might not make the team. Panthers fans really didn't want to see him go, and some believe that he could play in the top 4 in 1 or 2 yrs, he just needs exposure. He might be a cheaper alternative to Markov if we can't bring him back for some reason. http://tsn.ca/nhl/teams/players/bio/?id=19...me=nhl-panthers -
This is something I never understood. We have less than 5 days to go, but still don't know the official cap number for next year is going to be. What is kenny (or any other GM) supposed to do when you don't know the cap number for next yr? I know he says he's willing to spend only $10 million, but I guarantee that the amount he's willing to spend after he finds out the new cap number, will be higher. As long as the salary demands remain unchanged after the fact, he will be able to re-sign more than 2 guys.

I'm pretty sure they want some scoring help....especially a top 6 guy with a salary thats not too big. Hudler + pick for Boynton???

Overall it was a solid draft for the wings. Brendan Smith: A bit under the radar and even though IMO, they passed on better prospects, the selection of Smith should still be good. Joakim Andersson: This is a nice value pick here. He is our most surefire prospect of this draft. Although I saw that video on MLIVE, and he really needs to improve his skating. He makes Bertuzzi look like marty st. louis. Randy Cameron: Never heard of the dude, and it looks they went for a safe pick here. Probably a 3rd/4th line player Zack Torquato: A huge steal here by the wings. Good all-around player and is definitely an NHL caliber player. BRYAN RUFENACH: Don't know about this dude either. Another role player??? This was a weak draft class so I can see why the wings played it safe.
-
BRYAN RUFENACH is the final pick. No idea who this guy is....or most of the draft picks for that matter
-
true. I don't think there's been any other fins taken either.
-
Actually for some reason, I think the wings won't take a swedish player with the last pick. This year's crop isn't that good.

I hope they take a goalie in the 6th and this dude in the 7th: VLASSI KOKKALA
-
I found some stats on him....doesn't appear to be a skilled player. Played in the QMJHL (moncton wildcats) 17-22-39 in 70 gms
-
Randy Cameron???? can't find any info on him
-
Nicholas Torp looks to be pretty good....but we have quite a few d'man like him in the system (meech, pyett, etc). Rather get a D'man with some size or one of the goalies.

here is Marek Benda's description: Statistics Season Team League GP Mins GAA SO SV% 2006-07 Karlovy Vary Jr. CZE Jr. 34 1947 1.94 3 .941

There are a couple of goalies out there, Owuya which you mentioned and Marek Benda as well from the czech jr. league.
-
Lookin at a couple of guys who the wings could get in the 5th: JOSH KIDD OR HARRI ILVONEN 6'3 D Finland
-
Doubt he has the offensive upside like zetterberg, although like someone said, he could be a combo of filppula and franzen
-
Here is eliteprospects.com description of Joakim Andersson:
-
I don't think the wings have drafted a russian player since prior to the lockout. Until there is a transfer agreement, no one will take russians where they're supposed to be taken. Just look at cherepanov, a top 5 guy without a doubt slips to 18.

^^^^ yea taken by chicago at 56
-
Even though he is a sweed, he wasn't supposed to be here at this point. Nice value pick here by kenny (or I should say Hakan)
-
Joakim Andersson is our pick at 88. 6'2" C 200 lbs
