It was obvious because of their goalie situation.
-
Islanders got him. It is on twitter.

I believe the Sens stated this morning that they would not take him. I didn't say anything about the Islanders not taking him. That is where I think he will end up, actually. They have the third best chance after New Jersey and Edmonton. New Jersey has said they would not put in a claim, and Edmonton has Khabibulin.
-
Actually, his agent has said he will report to whoever claims him.
-
Don't know about this, because the Sens have come out and said they were not putting in a claim.
-
Pretty good percentage that he will be an Islander. They have the third best shot at him. Plus, all their goalies are injured.

Joke of the day - Giguere willing to waive no trade clause
CenterIce replied to RedWingsRox's topic in General
Um, The Wings paid Hasek and CuJo 8 million, which included a 1 million Cup bonus. -
No, just the flu. However, I hope it doesn't claim any more victims.

From the article, Kane and Green were chosen because they are "division rivals". NHL's way of trying to create more drama.
-
It is because of the way they utilize replay.
-
Unfortunately, he is done for a while. http://www.heraldnet.com/article/20110121/SPORTS/701229895/1004/SPORTS

Datsyuk is the only player on LTIR. Just because they have long term injuries doesn't mean they are automatically placed on the LTIR list.
-
Holland has stated that he likes Howard and Osgood, when healthy. This is not a knock on them. This is a depth move, which the Wings do all the time. People complain all the time why the Wings keep guys around forever. They want as much depth going into the playoffs as they can.
-
No, Nabokov stays on the roster. We would have 3 goalies for the playoffs.
-
He cannot be placed on the waiver wire until Friday at noon, according to Mickey Redmon. So, their is no shortening of the waiver period. We will not know until Saturday at noon, if he has been picked up.
-
Or, that the team doesn't mind just waiving one of their goalies, even though he has no more waiver options left.
-
For the people who think Osgood is gone for the rest of the year, think of this. Groin injuries are tough for hockey players, especially goalies. Osgood is predicted to start playing again around early March. He will not be in game shape, then. It will take some time for him to get back up to speed. Picking up Nabokov allows Osgood more time to get ready and provides some veteran presence for a group of mostly young guys in the system, while Osgood is away healing.

The waiver rule itself covers that a player cannot be placed in the AHL after they have signed a contract after December 15, when starting the season outside of North America. The NMC just ensures that Nabokov has control over where he can end up, which might deter some teams from grabbing him.
-
No, all it means is that the Wings would have 3 goalies on their roster for the rest of the regular season.
-
To clarify something I have seen throughout the thread, Nabokov cannot be placed on waivers until noon on Friday, so we will not officially know that he is claimed until noon Saturday.
-
Whoa! Someone who actually made sense. Congrats.

I think he meant the interviewer.

Yep. It is the same teams all the time. Tweak the jersey a little, and tell the fans you need our new jersey. Another good reason to be a Red Wings' fan.
