A. Messed up his back carrying too many curly fries? B. Wrenched his shoulders after Larry Murphy grabbed his curly fries out of his hand?

Back to back games or multiple games in a few nights. They had it easy the first two months. More time to cool down and loosen muscles. Since Zetterberg and Rafalski are day-to-day with back issues, I don't see them calling anyone up. They have $51,482 in Cap space with Mursak up. Yes, they can put guys on LTIR, but the Wings don't like to do that. Plus, they have to think about the eventual return waivers, depending on who they call up. -
The Devils have Cap troubles. I don't see them trading and ending up with more salary.

Ericsson at forward for a few games, if needed, sounds like a good idea. -
It is really that arbitrary. Who says stats always mean something. They are just numbers. Yes, Draper would have received the GWG, if Minnesota scored another goal, because his goal was the one that would have put the Wings over the top. So, you are questioning something as simple as who got the goal that put the team over the top, and you want another statistic to add to it?
-
Wings like depth. They didn't like it when they got to the Conference Finals in 07, only to get 3 top defensemen injured. When either Cleary or Datsyuk get back, Mursak will go back to GR, to get more ice time. If they need him in the playoffs fine, but they won't trade Hudler, just to get Mursak time in the playoffs.
-
All this stat says is who scored the goal which was one more than the other team scored, in order to win the game. No where does it say that that player played harder or more clutch than anyone else. You are reading way to much into the statistics.
-
That is the significance to the GWG stat. It states who hot the one goal needed to win the game. That easy.
-
One team scores 2, so the other team needs to score 3 to win. If they score 5, it just pads the stats. You only need to score one more goal then your opponent to win.

Their radio play by play guy seems to never take a breath. I hardly ever heard the analyst.
-
Anything over the one goal advantage to win is not needed, just gravy.
-
Not all the goals really do count the same. You only need one more than the other team. You never know when in a game that wlll happen. GWG keeps track of who that is.

Hopefully, you don't have any more Wings on there.
-
You are right that Modano would probably be put on LTIR first, for any call ups, but my point is that the Wings don't do anything unless they have to. Modano has not even been placed on LTIR, so they are still near the cap. http://www.capgeek.com/charts.php?Team=15

Exactly.
-
Only if there is another injury and Datsyuk gets put on LTIR, to free up the cash. Wings usual mo is to wait until they have to. Let the guys in GR play instead of sit.
-
From what I remember, the owner was the one who wanted to give Kovalchuk that deal. The GM really didn't want to do it.
-
I agree that this is what they will do. They have had extra forwards all ready, so why would you call someone up when you have enough for a full line-up.
