We did. He took Jay Woodcroft, the then Video Coordinator, to be an assistant coach. Been that way for a few years now. You occasionally get a glimpse of him on TV, when they are showing Holland. http://redwings.nhl.com/club/page.htm?bcid=win_coachbio_4844

Indianapolis doesn't have a team, Chicago is close by.

KHL may lose a 4th club this postseason due to financial difficulties. Lada, Dynamo, HC MVD (the two merged) and now Avtomobilist. http://twitter.com/dchesnokov

They could have been visiting him. Nothing wrong with that. They were not talking contracts, though. I don't see Yzerman wanting any thing to do with tampering his first week on the job. Draper and Osgood still have a year left on their deals.

NHL will announce Friday what has previously been reported: Was vs Pit @ Heinz Field Jan. 1 and Mtl vs. Cgy at McMahon Stadium in mid-Feb. http://twitter.com/TSNBobMcKenzie

You won't see a US team playing a Canadian team. NBC doesn't think a Canadian team can carry in the US, and CBC wants Canadian teams for their side. You may see each Canadian team get a bunch of these for the next few years, because they are playing theirs on Hockey Day in Canada.

The only thing I don't really like about JLA is how hard it is to get out of their after a game. I feel like a cow in a cattle drive.
-
As usual, the biggest reason for two is TV. NBC didn't think a Canadian team would carry in the US, and CBC didn't want only US teams for their broadcast.

They are one of those that never understood the notion of too much of a good thing. Like others, they are how much money can we squeeze out of this idea.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=5214509 First, I know this is a story about the NFL, but I know all the leagues were watching this closely, because it impacts the control they have over all their teams. Think of the Rangers not wanting the NHL to take control of their website and other media. Also, Phoenix trying to sell to Jim Balsillie, without the NHL's consent. Then, their are the anti-trust issues that the leagues have been fitting with over the years. With this decision, we could start to see sports teams taking more control of their own concerns.

Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Franzen, Lidstrom, etc.

From ESPN. It will basically be as described. A lot of guys who don't sign with the Wings may end up there. The one thing I am a little worried about are future guys that he knows the Wings are interested in. Tampa is usually picking well ahead of Detroit.

Every teams has one, since they converted over to NHL run websites. The Wings have one, but more go here. http://fans.lightning.nhl.com/directory

Last year, as well as this year, is all about getting NBC on the weekend games. Before last year, Versus had the first two, but it was different last year, because of NBC's request. They drive the scheduling of the playoffs and even special events like the Winter Classic. The league wanted Washington, while NBC wanted Philadelphia. I am guessing NBC and Versus are loving this final. Big TV market like Chicago and Comacast owns Versus, the Flyers, and soon NBC.

Supreme court rules that NFL is 32 teams not 1 league
CenterIce replied to CenterIce's topic in General
The NHL and other leagues have actually been worried about this result and the effect it could cause. The other leagues filed motions of suport for the NFL during the hearings. This has the potential to be very far reaching. Puck Daddy -

Yes, and that is why I included the fact about the Rangers not wanting to give control of its website and other marketing tools over to the NHL. However, this could definitely open a can of worms, depending how much teams or player unions in individual leagues want to push this, especially at CBA negotiation times, as someone posted. -
