Please, explain. What do you mean by creative? The Salary Cap, especially when you are right at it, makes it difficult to make deals. You have to have a dollar for dollar move. You also have to be compliant for future years. Finally, this team does not have to be gutted. We knew going into this season it would be a little rough, because younger guys would be up sooner than normal for the Wings, because of the cap. They would have their growing pains. Too many people were so high on Ericsson, Helm, and Leino and down on Howard, because of short bodies of work. Now, that they have had more playing time, and they have gone through the full season grind, everyone has switched their opinions. The injuries compounded everything. This is new to everyone in Hockeytown, because we are used to winning, but get used to the new NHL. This is what we have to deal with. You can't have a team like 2002 anymore.

Scouts From 10 Teams In Attendance For Sharks/Wings Game
CenterIce replied to rage's topic in General
San Jose has been rumoured to be wanting to change things up. The scouts were there mostly for San Jose. Plus, you have the advance scouts who scout upcoming opponents. Just because scouts are at a game, it doesn't mean something big is about to happen. -
Why stop there? It is all virtual. They would litter the ice, too. The players, and the fans at the Joe wouldn't see it. I am kidding of course, but it has to start some where.

What's the difference?

Chicago doesn't seem to be doing too badly, after playing in Finland.

He centered the top line for Team Jagr, and he got a goal and an assist in their All-star game.

ESPN's insider has Philly talking with Dallas for Turco. So, we shall see.

This, and that is all he really has the wiggle room to do.
-
He has a no trade clause. Highly unlikely.

Outside of the Cup year, this defense has been the same for the last few years. We have had the offense to cover it up, but with the injuries this year, we haven't. There has been more change over than just McCrimmon coming in. Paul MacLean was the coach of the defense, so if it was only the coach, why don't the do what they did in 08. Overall, they lost the forwards coach (defense is a team concept; the forwards need to back check). Also, whenever the Wings don't do well, it is usually that they can't score. This usually covers up defensive laps. Did anyone notice that when the PK and defense went up this year, our roster was mostly third/fourth liners whose primary responsibility is defense.

Thoughts on the Four Minute High Sticking Penalties
CenterIce replied to GMRwings1983's topic in General
60.3 Double-minor Penalty - When a player or goalkeeper carries or holds any part of his stick above the shoulders of the opponent so that injury results, the Referee shall assess a double-minor penalty for all contact that causes an injury, whether accidental or careless, in the opinion of the Referee. It doesn't specifically say blood, just injury. However, that has become the standard by default. -
There will be a roster freeze during the Olympics and only a few days after that is the deadline. You can discuss traded during the Olympics, just not make any. Looks like a few GM's are trying to get some in before the break.

Anybody know anything about his assistant who is taking over, Noel?
-
Well, they sort of have been, but not because of him.

The only time they call diving penalties is when they have one of their meetings and decide to put emphasis on it. There are a lot of diving calls that should be made, but in like a lot of situations, the ref is usually seeing something out the corner of his eye or from across the ice. So, when they see someone go down, the figure that the other guy must have just hooked him. Usually, when they call the diving penalty. The other team get a penalty for something, too.

Their powerplay is designed to get pucks on the net for deflections and rebounds. This is because of what Holmstrom, Franzen, and Cleary can do in front of the net. It should look better with Holmstrom in there.
