Another idea for GM's - Shorten Season to 70-74 games
CenterIce replied to RedWingsRox's topic in General
Looks like I made a mistake. From what I had known only the Stanley Cup winners got paid, but from looking at the latest information, you are right that they get playoffs shares, as they go along. However, to my point of my post, not all players are going to make the playoffs, so the majority of the players are going to be getting paid less, if you cut down the number of regular season games. -

Only the Stanley Cup winners get a playoff bonus. -
He had a helmet made, the M11. He wanted to develop a helmet to cut down on concussions. The only thing is that it doesn't have an automatic adjusting strap, and it won't protect any hits on the jaw.

It does seem to make a difference. When the team offers 3 million and a player want's 3.5 million, they are squabbling over a few hundred thousand dollars. -
Since the Wings have already been in one, it will be a while until they are in another one.

You are taking a paycheck from the players. I don't see them going tha route. They don't get paid in the playoffs. -
Let's just say Rafalski waived his no trade clause. Do you want both Meech and Lebda in at the same time? This would have to include another move, which adds money. Also, Anaheim would be okay sending Giggy out East (and to Burke) but not to a rival like Detroit.

During a Wings' game, earlier in the season, Ken Daniels and Mickey Redmond had mentioned that Holland had told them the reason they went toward Howard was because they needed to find a young long-term solution in net. They mentioned how Holland talked about Conklin and Ozzie's ages at the end of Ozzie's current contract. They said Holland wanted to see what kind of talent he had in the organization.

Quote of the year, right there.

This is such a happy thread.

Biron may end up going to Carolina, now. That is with Ward being out 4 weeks or more.
-
As stated on some other threads, you can make some moves now, but you have to be under the cap, once your injured players come back. So, I don't see the Wings bringing in any free agents. Also, with so many injured, your only trade options may be prospects, which they want to keep. I only see them short-term having Meech coming in as forward and Janik as an extra defensemen. The other scenario would be bringing up a Grand Rapids' foward, who can contribute offensively.

Who knows. Carolina might go after Biron, instead of selling everyone.

Add another player to the list: Boston's David Krejci http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=504905

I am not really liking Ken Daniels' "snipe" calls.

Someone mentioned Andy Sutton. I wouldn't mind him, Michigan Tech bias, but he can be a bit injury prone.

That is because the NYI have 3 goalies who can start. They don't want to have all that money wrapped into their goaltenders.

Some one mentioned the home versus away record, before. If you look at the games played at JLA, they are 3-0-1. Away from JLA, they are 2-4-2. Because of the Swedish trip and the long West coast trip, they have had few home games. Let's see how they look after November, when they have a few home games, including 4 in a row. Also, we are only 4 points out of the division lead.

The only thing I might call on that hit could be charging, since he had full out sprint from center ice. I think the main problem was that the kid who got hit spun just before to make the pass. Mickey always mentions that you cannot put yourself in a vulnerable position and that looks like what happened here.

They were only going to let you get a poster signed. The only autograph session that I know he did was the time they won gold at the Olympics.
