They are pretty much identical plays. Both players went way lower than a hip check and took out the knees. I recall everyone praising Ballard's hit, probably because it was on the Penguins. Both hits are dirty.

NHLFA would like your suggestion for a good lobbying tactic

Too bad the owners want him to stay. -
Look at the beginning of last year.

I watched the NHL Network CBC feed tonight, with no issues. What provider do you have?

No way to tell from that video. There is a player in the way.
-
Not really, because outside of the year they won the Cup, they have been playing like this since the '06-07 season.

Maybe these are like the ads at some baseball games that you can only see on TV? It does look annoying, though.

It is not just recently, so you can't blame McCrimmon. It has been going on since the 2006-07 season. The Wings like a controlled break-out of their zone. However, a lot of teams are learning that if you pressure their defensemen (or sometimes forwards) with an aggressive forecheck, they can turn it over. Then, with their issues about not wanting to use the glass or ice the puck, the opposition can have a long run in the Wings' zone, leading to penalties or goals.

As Holland has said, we needed to see what our young goalies can do. He said look at the ages of Osgood and Conklin, when Osgood's contract is up. He knew we need to figure out our long term goaltending. With the cap, you can't keep bringing in free agents all the time.

They have played a lot of hockey the last three years. Not a lot of time to recover.

http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=502246&cmpid=rss-duff You have to guess who is who. I have figured out a few of them, but I didn't want to give anything away. See if you can figure them out.

To your point, it is about expectations. People still think of the Red Wings from the pre-cap era, where anybody can be brought in to the lineup. Just think of '02, where your fourth line in the Stanley Cup playoffs was Robitaille, Larionov, and Holmstrom. Unfortunately, you can't do that any more. You have to work within your own prospects more than ever.

He became the odd man out when Clemmensen played so well. I was a little surprised that when Clemmensen didn't stay with the Devils that Weekes didn't sign with NJ. Maybe some GM's didn't like that he was beat by Clemmensen.

Sorry, you are right. I was posting this a little late.
