Meech could play forward and defense, so he could save them a roster spot.
-
Yep. I got one at The Goalie's Den.
-
Because they knew what they were getting from Quincey, but Ericsson hadn't been up, yet. They wanted to see what he could do.

3 preseason games. About the visor. He might wear one for at least a while to protect the nose. Also, he wore one, at least for a little while, earlier in his career.

You never know what is going to happen. Holland has said that he would retire once Lidstrom retires. Lidstrom's contract is up in 2011, which is the same year as Yzerman's (I believe). If that holds true, Nill could become GM and Yzerman assistant GM. It is all a long way off.

http://www.nhl.com/nhl/app?articleid=38214...mp;service=page NHL.com -- You're up for the Hall of Fame in 2009. Do you think about it? This could be a great class, one that rivals the one that just went in with you, Luc Robitaille, Brian Leetch, Brett Hull all eligible. Do you let your mind wander to that? Yzerman -- "No. You know, of course I'd love to be in the Hall of Fame, but we'll see. It's not something I spend a lot of time thinking about." That is a nice Hall of Fame class. Three being Wings who all played on the same line for a while.

http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/news;_ylt=ArwM...ype=team_report The author figures Meech will be traded.

Agreed about the 5 hole.
-
He has been practicing with the big club. He isn't in the prospect tourney.

http://www.nhlnetwork.com/en_US/tvListings/US/20080915 The link is where it starts. A few games from Traverse City of various teams' prospects. I noticed 10:00 PM Wednesday, the 17th, Wings versus Thrashers. They also have the Dallas and Pittsburgh playoff series throughout the next week or so. Enjoy.

The linked article says "likely", not going to be. Anyway, it was basically a given that when they signed Conklin that he was going to be the backup. You don't sign a guy like that and just release or trade him before training camp. Howard has to really show something for that to happen. Detroit wants to keep this run going, and their organization usually prefers "known" veterans over "unknown" young players. It is not a fault on the young players. They always need games to show their worth, but in Detroit, that usually doesn't happen. You just have to hope that they don't lose any future players because they have to wait too long for their chance.

Sorry about the short title; I bumped a key, which made it post before I was finished. Thanks to whoever fixed my title. ESPN's Hradek continues in his series of best players for each team. Can't argue much with these: DETROIT RED WINGS Best forward: Gordie Howe. As much as we all love Stevie Y, I just can't go against Mr. Hockey. Best defenseman: Nicklas Lidstrom. He's among the five best defensemen to ever play this game. Period. Best goaltender: Terry Sawchuk. Whether you want to hear it or not, Chris Osgood is closing in on the legend.

How does this help the defensive log jam. The only way a forward will be add to the trade is if he is included in a deal to balance out the salaries or the other teams really wants one added.
-
That is the point of all this. Training camp should decide. If you don't play well, then you decided your own fate. The interesting thing will be if they all play well, who they will choose.
-
How do you come to this conclusion?
-
The Senators were only offering him 3.5 million per year. That is a large jump to match that.
-
It doesn't say he owns it. It says his company manages it. There is a difference.

http://www.nhl.com/nhl/app?page=FrozenMome...mp;service=page Actually, I should read the caption more often. This was from Game 2. Still good.

- During a fall tour of the 30 NHL dressing rooms, Kelly said he would begin taking the players' pulse for a possible early re-opening of the collective bargaining agreement in the spring. Kelly promised such a drastic move would be done well in advance of the May 18 deadline. "We are not anxious to re-visit what happened a few years ago," he said of the crippling 2004-05 lockout. "We would be asking: 'Has the CBA worked for the players?' In some areas it has (a rising salary cap was cited), but there are some areas where it could be improved." http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Hockey/NHL/2008/...394341-sun.html

According to his stats., it doesn't look like he does have, or will have, his name on the Cup. http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/players/stats?playerId=1427
