That's the thing though....it doesn't *guarantee* them the top pick. The NHL has a lottery each year in hopes of preventing this sort of play. Sure they have a better shot of getting the top pick, but it doesn't mean they'll absolutely get it. All that being said, with Burke at the helms....who knows.

As far as contenders go...absolutely. That being said, I love Ottawa's deal this morning as well. Leclaire's going to be a great pickup for them for atleast the next couple seasons after this one and the 2nd rounder is icing on the cake.

The sad part is....at this point, that's all they have.

Keep in mind the Wings are able keep/obtain players for less than their market value on a consistent basis. I'm not saying Kenny will be able to keep both, but I would bet he'll find a way to keep one of the two.

Exactly....with all the trades that came in last minute it took the league an hour or two to accept and report all of them.
