Can't you watch the Wings' feed? I thought everyone that subscribes to CenterIce *this season* has the opportunity to view either feed. It wasn't that way on TimeWarner last year, but I heard it was this year. I switched to DirecTV this year and it has both feeds.

Hossa injured vs. Blues, carried out on stretcher

I'm fairly confident that's what GMR was implying....that an enforcer doesn't prevent players from getting hurt like some members here seem to think.

Look man, this is not how I understand it works and I have sources to back it up. Perhaps I'm wrong, but there are plenty of other people that are in the same boat I am then too, but I've atleast got sources to back up my claims: http://msn.foxsports.com/nhl/story/8446834...o-get-below-cap http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/columns/stor...&id=2743713 http://www.examiner.com/x-1322-NHL-Examine...o-know-and-more

    2009 NHL Trade Deadline Thread

I suppose either way, whether pay is based by games or based on the percentage of days remaining in the regular season its basically splitting hairs seeing as that they'd be so close to each other to begin with. Teams are able to pick up players for the *remainder* of their contract and its subsequent cap hit. Why would any team be on the hook for the entire yearly cap hit of a player acquired at the deadline if they aren't on the hook for their entire yearly contract? The team that trades a player was responsible for that players' salary and cap hit *up until the moment they are traded*. After that, the team that acquires the player is on the hook for the remainder of the salary and the remainder of the cap hit. The remainder of the cap hit though is quite different than the yearly cap hit. Cap hits don't magically go away, but teams that acquire players aren't required to count the entire years' cap hit, just the portion left after they're picked up.

I registered on their boards a few years back and was told by the mod staff that I can expect to be treated like my opinion doesn't matter simply because I'm a Wings fan, but that I should just stick it out and deal with it. Umm, lets see....stick around, be told my opinion is s*** regardless of its accuracy, and never have an actual debate/conversation with any of their members due to their unrealistic view of Red Wings fans. I think I'll pass. Please tell me this is a joke.

    2009 NHL Trade Deadline Thread

From what I understand this post is inaccurate. Players have daily cap hits regardless of whether they play that day or not and as a result their salary is counted against the cap each and every day. As for the amount of money Kenny has to spend (should he chose to), Matt's chart is one of the better ones out there: http://www.letsgowings.com/salarychart/index.php Even if you look at nhlscap.com, the cap space the Wings have left is worth about 4-times its value based on prorating. Meaning the Wings could easily pick up a player worth just under $1 million in total yearly salary because they'd only be on the hook for roughly 23% of the contract. In regards to the accuracy/truth of your first two paragraph's, I respectfully disagree.

There are actually lots of sites that provide factual news and transactions as well as plenty of others that provide rumors and speculation. A great site that provides accurate and reliable info is http://tsn.ca/nhl/ Bob McKenzie does a lot of blogging and can be worth a read: http://www.tsn.ca/blogs/bob_mckenzie/?id=269564 Another site that many people view (although I'm not an advocate of) is http://www.hockeybuzz.com/, especially eklunds blog. One last site that provides quick info is http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/ Hope those help.

See what happens when you make the playoffs 26 years in a row and have no silver to show for it? Talk about pent-up, meathead aggression.

Lilja will only be out a couple games. If he was put on LTIR that would open up some cap space but only through replacing his salary until he's reactivated. Edit: SR beat me to it.

Why no word on Hossa or Franzen?

I'm not questioning the validity of this, but we must be talking about a late press conference if this in fact happens given Kenny is likely going to be a little busy tomorrow during the day.

That's just s***ty given the season he's compiled. That's a massive hit to the Wings' already shaky PK unit.

I decided after last years' trade deadline that I would never work on that day again. It's like my personal Christmas. I'll be off all day tomorrow and completely devote my day to Trade Deadline Hockey.

    Ty Conklin

I'm not saying it hasn't happened, but I'm pretty sure Holland's focus is on Hossa and Franzen, and given Conklin's level of play this season he'll probably price himself out of Detroit's range. He's played much better than his $750,000 salary and the money he commands next year will probably force the Red Wings to let him walk.

    Searching For An Article

A while back someone posted an article about Franzen's first game playing alongside Datsyuk. There was a line within the article that read similar to this: Franzen apparently yelled to call for the puck. When Dats didn't pass it to him and they wen't for a line change, Franzen questioned Dats and asked why he didn't pass it to him? Dats replied something like, "Don't yell, I know where you are". I've done plenty of google searches and simply can't find the article. If anyone knows where I can see this article, I would greatly appreciate your help. Cheers
